Yeah of course it's positive atm, what about when the fad dies out? do you honestly think all these people are going to keep donating to the cause?

I disagree that it's only a positive thing in the long run tbh..

What about when people start getting hurt or experience bad reactions just like the neknoms?

What about all the water that's being wasted for these challenges?

It's a fad that will die when something else comes along and takes it's place.

I already donate to charities and won't be doing the ice water challenge just because 'everyone else is'.

It's completely a positive thing in the long run, the charity have said they've raised many many times more money then they ever expected to raise ever. The fad will die out but they have an incredible amount to work with for now and the future.

The water lost is the equivalent to a shower... that doesn't make a noticeable subtraction to the tens of millions raised.

We'd all love to donate to every charity all the time but it's simply not realistic. This gives a specific incentive especially for those who are oblivious to the charity in the first place.

Ultimately it's only a good thing.

I suppose we will have to agree to disagree.

I definitely don't think it's a bad thing for the charities for now, the donations won't continue from the biggest majority though.

Neknominations was a ridiculously stupid fad but i'm happy this one helps people and it's really just a bit of fun

I thought it was for mcmillan? Gav did it yesterday and was told to text something to them to donate 3 quid.

Unfortunately Macmillan twisted it to make out it was for them, even though the ice bucket feeling was supposed to emulate the feeling of ALS.

One of the most annoying fads ever tbh, if you are going to donate then do it without making a big song and dance about it.

agreed. I'm sick of seeing it all over the internet everywhere I go.

It's a beautiful thing. More money has been raised with it than without it. That's the bottom line. It's a trend that will only grow and become more and more refined and powerful.

Even if charity wasn't involved and it was just a viral meme it's still hilarious, still makes people happy, and still comes under fire from the type of people that don't seem to realize that social media is a perfectly adequate platform for trivial ****.

Some people become too reliant on their online life as an outlet for TMI but as a larger argument there's a bizarre subset of creatures out there would would only have you use Facebook to announce new arrivals and family deaths.
