In fact there is no way of knowing exactly at what point in the night that Hopkin's called him a knobhead...it could have been when he was in the diary room or in the bathroom or, yes, when he was in the corner sobbing. Either way, she was not watching a sobbing Perez, calling him a knobhead and laughing, as you seem to be implying.
