It depends if it's someone I'm glad to see or not. Service people always get offered tea/coffee/cold soft drink and biscuits or cake.
People I am glad to see get offered everything but my first born, but those who I am not so fond of get offered a cuppa and that's that.

I'm originally from Virginia. I know how to host a guest properly.

Why? She sounds like a lovely woman to me :nono:

joeysteele 08-03-2015 09:24 AM

In the main yes, not usually just to someone just dropping in with a quick message or something but anyone likely to be there for half an hour or more, then yes.

I always offer biscuits or a sandwich even and if they are there around meal times will offer them to stay for a meal too.

If it is evening, then I will offer an alcoholic drink too if they want one.

I very rarely drink it myself so no, it doesn't enter my mind to do so. If one of my friends asks for one I just tell them to go and make on, I'm not a bloody servant

I always offer visitors a cold drink, or tea, Coffee, and biscuits, family also plus cooking them some food or making them a sarnie, as I think it is only good manners and hospitable to do so. However, I can't say that I am offered the same, as it is rare that I am :nono:

I think it's extremely rude not to offer a drink if someone calls :nono:

 I am funny in that the kitchen is sort of my domain, and I won't let others go make their own food and drink in MY kitchen :D You have got to try to be more hospitable to your guests/friends Locke :joker:
