Demolish the ****er and start again.

It's like a run down box now.

Marsh. 08-04-2015 10:36 PM

You'd think when they renew a programme for several years they'd invest a bit of money in renovating the set.

The house has been in a right state for a good few years.

For people saying rebulid the house its not that easy.

1) They would need planning permission which could take ages to gain

2) They would either have to build on a new location or take the show of air as it wouldnt be possible to do it all in the short few months they have

Marsh. 08-04-2015 10:42 PM

No one said it would be easy but after 13 years in the same spot, a refurb/update is required every now and then.

There is not much room to do anything though what they need is a set extension but its pretty impossible to get

No, that'd be going from normal size to small just for construction, its mch better to keep the elstree house and move away from it to build a new house so they can continue as normal until the new house is built.

and I don't get the 'Planning permission takes AAAAAGES!' argument. That isnt true for studio sets, as, well, it's on a studio, not plonked in the middle of an estate in essex :umm2:

...but the studios would still need planning permission to film the show...

Big Brother requires planning permission every time they make changes to the house. You can check the Borehamwood council website - they have the C4 Big Brother planning applications on there.

Channel 5 need to apply every time they want to make changes, and they are applied for over a year in advance to the actual work beginning. The planning does take forever, which is why you end up with the same layout etc. for two years.

it still doesn't take ages :umm2:
The BB move in 2002 didn't take ages did it?

Yes, the Big Brother move had been in discussion since Big Brother started as they knew the site was temporary, which is why they were looking for a new site well before Big Brother 2 started.. as said in the Big Brother 2 book. They started work at Elstree in 2001 ready for 2002's series.

Early 2001 work began ready for Mid-2002.. a year and a bit is a long time for stuff like this.

considering they already have a place to stay during construction it's really not.. it's still realistic and plausible.

MB. 08-04-2015 11:31 PM

On-season really can't come soon enough if this is the sort of stuff people argue about in the BB forum for the rest of the year.

They have to consider things years in advance which is the point I'm making. For example, the changes to the House for Big Brother 2014 would have to be considered back in 2012 ready to be changed.

And no, I'm not arguing  I'm just giving my side to Tom.

The idea of a new house is nice and all, but in all fairness, after a few months you'll get used to it anyway and the novelty will wear off, just like the annual house re-decoration.

The cost wouldn't outweigh, or even equal, the benefit I wouldn't think.

True.
But with 3 series of BB per year, having 6 six series with the same layout gets really boring.

The thought of the fact that CBB12 (2013) had the same house layout as CBB15 (2015) is quiet shocking.
