I think part of it is because as others have touched on, if you're not blatantly flamboyant, how do you suss out who's gay and who isn't? Of course, some people innately know in other ways and others learn it over time but I think generally it's a learning curve and most gay men tone it down once they've been out the closet for a while and realise that you don't have to be a stereotype to be noticed.

I genuinely feel like most gay people who are flamboyant - or as Caitlin said, butch lesbians - are putting it on just for show.

For some reason people seem to think that they have to live up to a reputation in order to be seen as being 'proud' about their sexuality, whereas there's a major difference between being proud and just showing off for the sake of it.

I know some people can't help being effeminate or butch, but a lot of people ham it up when they don't need to, like wearing tutus and bright rainbow colours 24/7, that to me, is unnecessary, especially when those types of gays are the main ones being paid attention too, it doesn't help the social image of gays being camp and flouncy at all.

Having a dick up the ass is a bit of a gay thing to do tbh

I'm not sure its 'most' gay guys, but a lot of it does seem extremely put on, especially when they have a change of personality overnight tbh

So happy that other people think this too!

I think that a lot of gay guys are actually just quite feminine, but at the same time I see a lot of people "exaggerating" their femininity to perhaps fit in, or stick to a stereotype that they feel comfortable in? I don't know
