I know it's often said, but I do genuinely think Helen winning has put a lot of people off.

Jason. 04-06-2015 07:38 PM

I highly doubt Helen's win is why people turned off.
Had Ashleigh won, it still wouldn't have changed how awful a series BB15 was.

Not to mention, most viewers turned off before Helen was crowned the winner. I think Armageddon Week, with Danielle being evicted without a public vote is when most viewers turned off and gave up not only on BB15, but BB as a whole.

BB15 was always going to be crap, regardless of who would've won. Fact.
Had Ashleigh won, people would still be moaning. It's just that Helen won, people are moaning even more and more.

The series without the extreme levels of hostility.

If Ashleigh won it would have felt more narratively satisfying because the bully didn't win and as Deana would say "good has overcome evil"

This

Jason. 04-06-2015 07:43 PM

People say BB15 made people tune off.

But how did BB15 get bad ratings?
I mean, BB15 got bad ratings from the start. It didn't start of well, and dip in terms of ratings.

It stayed consistent with an average of 1.5m from Week 1, until Week 10.

My question is why did those additional 0.4m viewers who tuned in for BB14 not tune in for BB15?

Yes, but that still wouldn't have changed all those tedious and constant twists, manipulation, meddling, forced conflict, crap cast, and a mess of a series that BB15 was, 71 days before.

People stopped watching BB15 because it was an ugly series full of crap twists, forced conflict, and frankly it was just utter garbage, which went against everything the show stands for. Not because their favorite didn't win a mediocre series.

Daniel-X 04-06-2015 07:47 PM

Tasks - BB16 - They've been great so far enjoyed every single one (apart from the first one)

Cast - BB16 - Some are normal at least compared to last year which was just full of people who had been in the limelight some way or were fame hungry

Theme - BB16 - Both are terrible and the theme thing needs to stop tbh secrets and lies wasn't even that good but BB16 is slightly better as there isn't constant time bombs unlike someone being in power nearly every week.

Twists - BB16 - Not ill thought and last minute like BB15

Because some people didn't like the opening night cast.

Yes, but it still left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths that a horrible person had won, whereas if Ashleigh had won I would probably look back at the season with a better view than I do now, I would still see it as trash, but it would be good knowing that in the end, the good housemate won.

Jason. 04-06-2015 07:50 PM

I must say I prefer the Timebomb theme, compared to Power Trip on paper.

But, the Timebomb theme isn't that. It's just the producers chance to add twists and meddle to save their favourites. Most of the twists have actually had nothing to do with time, rendering the theme pointless and irrelevant.

At least with Power Trip, it was linked with Power. If that makes sense.

Therefore, I think Power Trip was the better one.

Fair point.

They could have done so much more with the timebomb theme but all they have done is substitute it for the word twist.

Exactly!
How the heck is Jade's luxury relating to time?

As horrible as Power Trip was, you can atleast say they did a lot with the theme, it was just executed appallingly.

I think they also messed up with last Friday's twist, by bringing back Showbiz, as it completely rendered the launch night twist pointless, especially after the hype of evicting someone on the first night.

Now if they do that in future series, it won't be the same as it will already had been done before, but not even used properly.

Big Brother is basically a trainwreck and has lost the public support it once had. Only January CBB has thrown the franchise a life vest because it genuinely makes people interested

I agree.
You can tell how the vibe is different in comparison.

Back in January, during CBB15, there was a spark, and sense of hype.
Now, it's just something to watch at 10pm.

uniquedude 04-06-2015 08:45 PM

For the first three weeks only bb15 wins hands down.

The theme was better for bb15 and seemed a lot more consistent
tasks were better
housemates were worse however after the 4out4in housemates for this series are worse.

Frustrating how easy it would be to fix as well.

Next year they could have a 'vintage' theme where they use the format of C4. Normal nominations almost every week, twists being rare and not too extreme, bringing back live feed, letting the producers take a step back and stop manipulating housemates, give us a cast of natural people, and don't have a million people up for eviction each week.

Then keep that format as a regular thing. Also show regular conversations about little things, not just arguments.

zakman440 04-06-2015 08:51 PM

First two weeks of Timebomb > entire series of Power Trip.
