The phrase 'the salt of the earth' derives from the Bible, Matthew 5:13 (King James Version): Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. |
I've always thought salt of the earth just means somebody very down to earth, no airs and graces, no attention seeking fakeness or nothing "over the top" about their personality etc. , just a very normal regular genuine person.

I do really like Marc, & I do think he will be remembered, as one of the best HM's this year.

Salt of the earth means a very good person, not sure thats really the best description for Marc, as it implies someone who is always helpful and kind

I wouldnt go that far, calling him salt of the earth. I would say he's the most entertaining housemate this series and has saved the show for sure! And he has divided people on here too. Hes definatly a lil firecracker lol.
