What sets The Brigade apart from most other alliances is that they knew they would be able to evict whoever they wanted every week because of their use of the side alliances. I can see how this would be incredibly frustrating to watch for the feedsters and such but it's so cool for someone like me who loves to see smart gameplay play out.

The only reason why I have Chilltown ahead of the Brigade is due to the results. No other alliance can say that 100% of their members have a victory.

What was smart was Matt trying to Break Free (Ariana promo) but he ruined it by throwing the comp

Also need I remind brisbane that D&D's success came from America's Player and Dick would've most likely been 9th place on his own.

While you are probably right about that, you can't discount the fact that the twist hurt Dick earlier in the game. I have heard that when Eric was going to be voted out over Kail, Amber came out of the DR and said production told her not to vote out Eric and of course, people kept Eric and that caused the division in the house, who knows how it would have played out from there.

Also twists are twists, while I sometimes complain about them, it happened, Dick did the best with the hand he was dealt and managed to get to the final 2 with his daughter.

It's also worth noting that there was literally no opposition on BB12 and BB16. Like, Britney reached the final four and genuinely thought that there were no alliances all season long. And when the game is dominated by people who are boring, not telegenic, and gross on a human level, that **** doesn't play out well over 30 or 40 episodes. Just give me the Wikipedia summary and that'd be more than enough for me.

Dick would've been evicted Week 6 and again in Week 8 but America (and production lbr) explicitly instructed Eric to tank his own game just to save Dick and Daniele's game. He won entirely as the result of the first of many convoluted Grodner twists, not as a result of his own merit. And on top of it being the most rigged win ever, it was a huge turn for the worse for the franchise. Grodner took over and the production values really began to sink, and there was more and more manipulation for idiots like Jeff and Frank and Frankie. Like, Dick is easily the most repulsive person I've had the displeasure of ever viewing, and the fact that the show literally bent over backwards to guide him to the win was the first time I realized that the show's values and my own personal values as a viewer do not overlap at all. It was like, "wow, I'm offended that you think that this is what I want to watch."

I agree if I saw feeds of BB12 I might've found it boring but watching the shows I loved how the Brigade played it out so strategically well. Add in that I found Enzo & Lane to be very entertaining so the lack of power shifts didn't bother me. Predictability isn't a problem for me in BB if it's from an alliance I can root for all season and the gameplay interests/impresses me.

Macie Lightfoot 15-07-2015 03:22 AM

On the flip side, I don't think that a four-person alliance is particularly interesting or innovative gameplay

JerseyWins 15-07-2015 04:06 AM

It is when you make the right relationships and lay low, especially when a couple are physical threats that should otherwise be big targets / hard to lay low.

Macie Lightfoot 15-07-2015 04:21 AM

I'm not saying they didn't play well (they, especially Hayden, did), but like "there were these four dudes who made an alliance and they got to the end." I just summed up the entirety of BB12 in one sentence.

....and it was amazing to see. There have been plenty of 4 person alliances that failed from the get-go. The Brigade managed to get 3 of their members to the final 3 and the only reason why Matt didn't make it was due to smart play from Hayden using Matt's own loyalty to the Brigade against him by making Matt out to be a snake for wanting to get Ragan out. If they didn't get Matt out, he would have won for sure.

As for the "entertainment factor" there was plenty of that as well. Rachel going nuts, Britney making fun of everyone, Ragan was pretty hilarious, Enzo being the goofball that he is, Captain Kosher calling our Kristin and freaking out when Rachel won HOH, Floaters grab a life vest etc etc. I was thoroughly entertained. One of my favourite seasons.

It wasn't actually amazing to see, cause their strategizing was boring. The only things that were good to see in the season were all the drama, Rachel, Britney, Britney, Saint Katherine, Lane touching himself in the shower, Andrew, Monet and Britney's backyard gossip, Kristen's unitard...

reece(: 15-07-2015 12:37 PM

"Enzo being the goofball that he is" was a season ruiner.

Yeah. I don't see how anyone enjoyed his "goofyness" I thought he was so gross and annoying.

Like I said, "four dudes strategizing to the end" is never going to be a compelling story for a show of 30+ episodes, that's wayyyyyy too many hours of the same thing over and over again. And all of the ~entertaining~ moments you mentioned are contained within the first five weeks (coincidentally Rachel's entire stay, IJS) It really doesn't get stated enough around these parts that BB12 was without a doubt (and could still be argued as) the worst season ever before 14 and 16 happened.

And to completely dismantle the Brigade even further, all Matt did was give self-congratulatory DRs about how well he was playing when he wasn't (lying about your wife having a disease didn't actually improve your position at all so ****), Enzo is a smarmy tryhard who called Ragan a girl way too many times for my liking (and I hate Ragan), Lane's "eight second game" is literally rape, and Hayden is vanilla.
