There is no actual cost to the state to give a student a free pass because public transport would be running anyway.
Yes, students should get a pass for public transport. |

I was relatively lucky during my education. Through 3 degress I got fees paid and in 2 cases a substantial government grant and fees (as it was something the government were pushing at the time) If I had my way students would still receive grants, but that's not the way life is now, and to be consistent, if loans are used for other maintenance during that educational period, then transport costs would fall in to that category. |
Most bus companies in my area do a student discount
In Bristol if you have a student card you get discount bus fares
For college I have the 16+ zip, I get free bus travel all around London, it's brilliant.
I can drive but yes
I would, it would make them safer to be able to jump on a bus if they're skint.

I'm thirsty for a free metro pass
it should be free for everyone considering the amount of advertising on buses and bus stops, it should pay for itself.
It's a nice thought but not a realistic one. I think most colleges tend to offer Bus passes for students aged 16-18 though, I know most of the major ones around here tend to do that.

No, students get a discount and that's enough they are fit enough to walk or cycle within reason whereas
a majority of OAPs have health and/or mobilty problems |
