When he has the first row with Janice, I thought it was weird. Their relationship has been very interesting to me. I think Janice reminds him of someone in his life? (I don't want to mention family) I feel like he has a rough past as a very angry gay teen or something, left home at young age and dysfunctional family. Troubled past... Anger issue. He's like someone that uses being an asshole to hide his past.

You're saying James nominated his friend like it's nothing, did you watch the series where Ashleigh nominated Christopher? Or when Dappy nominated Luisa? Janice has done nothing wrong to Austin other than be irritating, i think what we're seeing or have seen is his own projection of his feelings regarding his own mum, when he watches it back he will possibly realise he needs therapy.
