If you want to tell someone to "stop judging", it would be more relevant to direct it to people saying transgender people make them "feel sick".

its a comment in isolation about a sh1tty EE storyline

no context, no idea if real, in jest, to wind up etc

ie no point getting on your high horse on some "i hate all hate me" crusade

its the internet not the Lords

We need a link back to this thread the next time freedom of speech is discussed.

And how.

Rob! 12-10-2015 08:53 PM

Freedom of speech doesn't include transphobia and if you think it does then that's a problem you personally need to address instead of using it as a defence whenever somebody is offended by an offensive remark directed towards a minority.

kirklancaster 12-10-2015 09:02 PM

Which poster are you responding to Rob?

Rob! 12-10-2015 09:04 PM

It's just a sweeping statement. :)

Lostie! 12-10-2015 09:07 PM

I'm all for freedom of speech but if someone is just being hateful and offensive, they deserve to be called out. Anyone with half a brain cell (and who doesn't actually wish to insult somebody) would be able to state their view in a much more mature way.

Will. 12-10-2015 09:08 PM

IMO racism and homophobia/transphobia etc. is never acceptable, it's called MORAL VALUES.

Ninastar 12-10-2015 09:08 PM

Please tell me they are not doing a Stacey branning transgender storyline.

No. She becomes friends with the new transgender character.

Will. 12-10-2015 09:11 PM

Has there ever been a transgender cross over storyline, as in a character i.e Stacey Branning wanted to have transgender surgery?

Ninastar 12-10-2015 09:11 PM

Okay cause I was gonna say, what the actual ****.

Not in Eastenders but Hayley in Corrie came in as a pre-op and went to Amsterdam or something for the surgery.

Rob! 12-10-2015 09:14 PM

I'm sure Hollyoaks has done it at some point or somebody deciding they wanted to become a sandwich or something.

No, the same non-transgender actress.

She did didn't she? Hayley came in as a bit of a joke storyline at first because some characters were trying to match make for Roy and they got on really well. She then told him she was transsexual over dinner or something.

Yeah, but she still had a penis.

He helped her when she flew abroad for the surgery. :omgno:
