People have to pay often silly amounts a collection for bulky rubbish to be taken away.
So they now break down what they can and dispose of that in the domestic waste bins.

That helps fill the bins.

Public bins are not emptied every day, hence they get full and things blow out of them all over the place.

Also fortnightly collections are really bad service. if people have full bins, then they have to either keep the excess in their home until the bin is emptied or as happens more now, they cram it into public bins.

Rubbish collection should be done regularly and weekly for health reasons and environmental reasons.
Bulky items, there should be a at Least 2 free collections a year and then a smaller charge for any after that.

Otherwise people will just dump stuff and that is the govts and the councils faults.
get back to how rubbish collections used to be.

Yes it is, collections should be weekly, it's unhygienic to wait any longer than that imo plus the lazy bin men wont empty a bin if it's not closed properly at the top.

I dread to think what it'll be like when it's monthly.

We are allowed 3 free uplifts per year

But many are on a 2 weeks now as normal.

Bulky uplifts around here are useless and ridiculous. We have to pay, and they give you a "window" of about 10 days (usually with a wait of a month) during which the uplift could occur so you have to leave everything sitting in the garden, often for weeks. In one particularly ridiculous incident, a co-worker of mine got a letter from the council complaining about the junk in their garden, whilst waiting for the same council to uplift said junk.

It's quicker and more convenient to just hire a van and make a trip to the nearest dump - and only costs about £20 more. Completely useless service.

True and on top of that they won't take it if it's wet.Fecking useless.

We have weekly rubbish, recycling and green waste (grass, leaves etc), how long can it last :worry:

Ours are done on a points system, we get 9 point a year free, it's 4 points for a fridge freezer, 3 points for washer or normal fridge, the collection is done the week after you book it, it's pretty good service

god for help if you fridge breaks and then your freeze and your bed breaks in one year.

Our collections are fortnightly, we have green (recycling) black (general) and brown ( garden waste) mine are never full. I compost my food waste and flatten any packaging, it's the same whine about having to compartmentalise waste as pay for carrier bags.

Not really as all 3 would be covered by 9 points and after that it's a nominal charge of 20 quid. If you replace your white goods most companies will take away the broken one anyway so I really don't see a huge issue with it :shrug:
