Imagine if you were to see Katie Hopkins every time you looked in a mirror. I feel quite sorry for her too tbh

While Dezzy is of course right, the problem is that she isn't going to go away anytime soon, nor is she not going to continue to be paid to write columns and appear on downmarket television shows. It will continue for the foreseeable future regardless of however little attention people try to pay to her.

So as such, while ever she is still around spouting her bigoted bile, moves like this that are designed to humiliate her and every single person that for some reason follows her baseless, reactionary nonsense and show them up for the subhumans that they - are very much welcome.

The point is she shouldn't have been booked in the first place, Katie Hopkins has no place in any kind of debate on anything. She isn't an academic, she isn't a social researcher, she isn't a politician, she's a human troll. She has no right to be in such an institution and the fact she was booked says more about the university than anything else to be quite honest.

Crimson Dynamo 26-11-2015 04:39 PM

No that was Sion HOuse I am thinking of

Dollface 26-11-2015 04:40 PM

Did anyone else cringe when they all stood up?

But she only became famous in the first place because of people reacting to her, and when people hire her, that's all they want, a reaction, because like you say, she isn't an academic or expert etc in anything. She has nothing else to offer other than the potential to grab attention. The only way she'd go away is if people stopped reacting to her and stopped giving her attention imo

Very much so and well said Livia.

No, she's a social embarrassment who is motivated by her own self interest. Its not about the money, she's hungry for fame, regardless of how that fame comes about.

It's nothing compared to the things she says to/about people.

Dollface - please go back to the other more attractive type of Vamp avatar.

MTVN 26-11-2015 11:36 PM

Doesn't exactly look like a 'sell out', empty seats everywhere before anyone stood up

Amy Jade 26-11-2015 11:45 PM

There's like 20 people standing up and all they've achieved is giving her some press attention and her booking fee...if anything this is a win for Hopkins is it not?

LemonJam 26-11-2015 11:50 PM

as someone who went to this uni and knows a couple of folks in the video I can say this isn't solely a protest against Katie Hopkins, but also against the people who organised this event which is meant to celebrate Brunels 50th year. Considering that it's one of the most diverse universities in the UK and Katie's offensive comments involving race/disability she's really not somebody who represents the university very well.

Kazanne 27-11-2015 09:26 AM

That makes sense LJ. Shame on the University for booking such a revolting excuse for a human being

Kizzy 27-11-2015 10:13 AM

Judging by the topic I would've walked out too

Stunts like this only help her, she isn't bothered by them so they're pointless.

It would have done her more damage if they just didn't go to the event.

Kizzy 27-11-2015 10:36 AM

The inclusion of Hopkins on the west London university’s debate panel was met with widespread outcry from the student body. But the union did not want to undermine the principle of free speech by calling for her to be banned from the event. Instead, they came up with the ultimate show of peaceful disapproval: organised back-turning.

Union president Ali Milani explained in a blogpost: “It is important to note that the conversation at no point has been about banning Ms Hopkins from speaking on campus, or denying her right to speak. It is instead about saying it is distasteful and incongruous for our university, as part of a 50th celebration event, to provide a platform to someone who adds nothing to the intellectual or academic discourse;
and an individual who publicly utters such overtly bigoted views.” Milani said “around 50%” of the audience were left in the auditorium after the walkout.'

What idiots. Nobody knew she was at this uni until they did the protest. Also what gob****es "we will stand and turn our backs but still take photos of her" absolutely pointless and just proves they only wanted a bit of attention themselves. Pathetic.

Well yes, there is the more appropriate question, I never can work out why this,(as you rightly describe the woman too), vile excuse for a human being gets any publicity at all, never mind people and places even booking her for anything.

empire 27-11-2015 08:41 PM

left wing students, do not want to debate, on a balanced note, and they do not want to hear the harsh truth in what will hit them in the world, these students would refuse to listen to people who are on low wage, and how the open door policy has made it, less of a chance for their children to get jobs, these students would throw the people who need help in life, under a bus, because all they care about is taking center stage in the world, these students want britain to take millions of refugees, and tell the people that they must accept it, at the same time, many of them have said that the elderly should be forced from there homes, and placed into care places, what does not surprise me there is that many of them live in houses, that have up too 20 rooms, and if the government told them to house refugee families in every room in there parents house, and would they accept that, No, katie hopkins makes them students look like idiots, and she did not need to be vile or twist the truth, and alot of today's students use bullying and intimidation tactics, to stop you from telling your side of the story, these students want turkey to be part of the eu, when they are the main isis supporters, after the paris attacks, it shows that the left wing parties are an equal danger as much as isis, with its open door policy, and they want isis fighters to come back to euorpe,

Amy Jade 27-11-2015 08:58 PM

The students look even more idiotic now, they do this to Katie Hopkins but stay and debate with a man who thinks rape is absolutely fine.

They're attention seekers just like KH.

And you know this because you went to university? or because you agree with everything Katie Hopkin says?
