Personally I dont take the programme that seriously, it stopped being a social experiment
several years ago. Having said that I did get a bit fed up with the ageist comments on here that surrounded Angie. Ordinary bb has never had an older winner, and only has the token older housemate. CBB has only had a male older people win, (Jim&Gary) But this year we have had suggestions that no-one over the age of 60 should be allowed to take part. In spite of all the implied racism in these posts I have never seen anyone suggest that black people should not be allowed to enter,(It would be wrong if they did) but its ok to say that older people should be banned. Whilst Im on the subject of bigotry, where are all the disabled housemates. The big brother really should make more effort to reflect all members of society, and we as viewers should demand that they do. Thats my rant of the day. |
I think you should count disabled people, gay people, and transgender people as POC because they are also discriminated against small minorities.

"Social ramifications" :joker: I think you might be slightly over thinking and over estimating a chavvy tv show. #Perspective

It's exciting to think that in a couple of days we could see BB history being made, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of that accolade than Tiffany.

Also, it won't just mean a lot in terms of the shows past, but it will change the average viewers perception of what a winner is, what 'type' of person we expect a winner to be, which may affect future series in terms of how people vote. For example, people always say things like "a black woman could never win" etc etc, and although I totally get where people are coming from, I do sometimes think that there's a certain amount of 'self-fulfilling prophecy' in that. Because some people, if they genuinely believe it, may be less inclined to spend their money on what they perceive to be a wasted vote. And also, just the fact that a statement like that (which when you think about it is archaic beyond belief) will no longer be able to be made, after 16 years of it being 'valid', is a huge (albeit belated) step forward for the show and its fans.

Having a blatant liar, cheat and reality hore winning the show is one pretty bad, but her colour isn't that relevant, its all about who she is, not what colour she is. BB or CBB is supposed to be a social EXPERIMENT, not a reality competition to see who is the biggest scam artist. If this poor excuse for a human being wins, it will make Charlotte pissy pants look Mother Theresa and this Towie producer lot has driven the final nail into CBB and probably BB as well. Hardly a victory
