Martial is merely doing well on potential and youth. You put him against a top form, the real top notch eg Aguero, Costa, Sanchez and Lukaku et al and he's going to get found out. He's not bad but not great just acceptable.

At least our injury problems are at last forcing us to give youth a chance.
Buying big name players who do nothing has cost us for a few years now.

He is far more than 'OK'. He's a top notch young player. He recently won the golden boy award. You really need to watch him far more if you think he's just 'acceptable'. He's one of the best youngsters on the planet.

For me Martial is just meh. The age thing would have been OK if he was cheaper but for almost £40m I want at least 25 EPL goals a season and even without injury he won't deliver. He's not crap but for what he's produced so far LVG in August might as well have plucked Marcus Rushford from academy or a plucky Vardy type punt on a lower/non leaguer eg Aaron Williams (Nuneaton), Moses Emmanuel (Bromley), Omar Bogle (Grimsby), Xavier Vidal (Reading) and got a similar return. Martial is no flop, just nothing special, he's overrated and way way below his price tag IMHO.

i still think Memphis Depay is the real flop this season and he's really arrogant and he really thinks he is the new Cristiano ronaldo, with his no.7 shirt

It really is when someone that would be in the Man Utd reserves is now a top notch attacker for the same team.

Giving into Memphis's demand for the no7 shirt was exceptionally stupid. It's worthless now (to be fair it was when Michael Owen wore it).

If Memphis plays well against Arsenal he may be worth keeping as a squad player.

well Memphis already thinks he's a superstar, and he wants to make as much money as possible

at PSV, he was a good player, but now at Manchester United the fame has gone to his head, just like Afellay when he went to Barcelona, he also saw dollar signs ( that's how you call it when people go greedy)

Memphis is really into being a star. The Capri Sun debacle was the final straw. He's more into being a celebrity and doing flicks and tricks than being an effective top player.

into making money and being a celebrity, instead of being a star on the pitch

This thread.....

In what world is Martial average or a flop? The dude is 20 ffs. The transfer fee wasn't paid for what he's going to do in his first season. If you have watched him then you know the fee is going to be absolutely nothing for what he's going to become and if United even end up paying the maximum fee in add ons then it would be because he's become one of the best in the world so it is fine.

I never said he's a flop but just not someone who would have got into the squad let alone starting 11 in Fergie golden era. He's just a sign of MU's decline and status. He's slightly above average and not worth the price tag. He's not the new Thierry Henry and I wish over zealous MU would stop insulting Henry's name like this. MU could have got a better player for a lot less. He's not the kind of hard pressing forward who will often conjure a goal out of nowhere. He's extremely dependant on service.

As I've said so many players including Ighalo, Giroud, Costa, Lukaku, Kane, Sanchez, Wijnaldum, Charlie Austin, Griezmann, and I suspect Willan ( even in a differing midfield role ) are way way way better. I dont think he will improve that much with age. I do think in time the whole "he's only 20 " will be seen as a mistake. On a positive note he's better than Benteke. :joker:
