hopefully someday America will have a wall just as old. but if we want it to be old, we better start as soon as possible!

Trump's wall wouldn't seal out the Mexicans either, as long as they come legally.

With power comes responsibility, and its really none of his business as head of the Catholic church

I would have thought it was his business given Mexico is a predominately Catholic country

If a religious leader in this day and age thinks that they can influence the results of a foreign powers democratic election, they better be prepared for fallout and backlash. America, unlike the UK, does not have an allegiance to any faith in its politics so the pope should quite frankly butt out.

..he specifically said though that he wasn't getting involved other than to say that a person (any person..).. who only thinks about making walls again and again and not making bridges, isn't a Christian, that wouldn't be a 'Christian philosophy' to do that...and IF that's what Trump was a man like that, then he wouldn't be a Chistian..it seems like a fair comment for any Christian to make ....what's more worrying to me is that he is the head of the Catholic Church and seems unaware of what Trump's views are.../he should have probably just said that he'd take the Fifth Amendment or something and said nothing at all...but then that would have been difficult also with a direct question....

The republicans & democrats do seem to bring up god and christianity far more than labour & conservatives do here though.. so I'm not sure what this claim is based upon.

Really.Who gives a **** what the pope thinks.Apart from catholics obviously.Nobody else cares and i can't see his comments actually influencing anything.Abit of a non-story imo.

:clap1::clap1::clap1:

I'd be more impressed if the Pope sold off the billions of pounds worth of works of art and other treasures which they have locked away beneath the Vatican, and emptied the billion or so in their bank accounts, then combined the two collosal amounts to BUY an island for these poor immigrants and develop it for them to have a nice place to live safely.

how do you figure? most christians in America don't even think catholics are "real christians" because they worship false gods (they pray to saints). and our head of state isn't a religious figure, unlike in the UK where the Queen is considered the head of the anglican church AND the head of state.

Yes there will be some right museum pieces under there aswell as evidence of things they probabaly don't want us to see but such an act would be too Christian for even the pope:laugh:
Honestly the papacy is less relevant than it has ever been.It used to have influence over all the kings and queens of the Christian world. Now it does'nt even have influence over its own priests.

In the UK, the state is specifically aligned with the Anglican church, thus the reason why religion is taught in schools.

in the USA, the country is not aligned with any religion, and the teaching of religion is forbidden in schools.

 Like a guidance manual on what to do if a priest discovers a group of choirboys or altar boys have formed a secret devil-worshipping circle?

Something entitled: "How To Penetrate Any Choirboy Ring? :hee:

Looking at the thread you just started I don't find this joke in very good taste.

That's disgusting there are many good priests who do not deserve to be tarnished with the same brush. Like all men aren't automatically kiddie fiddlers :idc:

The issue isn't whether most priests are child touchers, the issue is that the ones that ARN'T touching kiddies are still covering up for the ones that ARE! that makes them just as bad.

In the same way the getaway driver is just as bad as the bank robber.

That happens, but becoming less common, why don't we say all care workers abuse their charges given SOME carers have been convicted in the past of abuse and others have helped covered it up. Abuse happens in ALL professions and it gets covered up in all professions, the Catholic Church is an easy target.

and all coverups in all professions deserve to be exposed and shamed! How would you feel if you found out your childs teacher was molesting kids in a another country, and instead of facing justic they were just given some counciling and then moved into your neighborhood to start again? never brought to justice, never forced to receive any medical therapy for their affliction, just given a bern lecture and then allowed to teach your children?

Who is truly holding the catholic church accountable? they always find a way around it as a "religious organization" why is no one at high levels being held accountable? and how can they get away with covering up probably the most despicable crime of them all, child rape???

It's been documented time and time again that the Catholic church knew what was going on, but instead of turning the molestor to the local police, they moved them to a new country to do it again!

A priest in America gets caught raping children in Boston, what does the Catholic church do? they move that priest to a South American church to continue raping children.

There is NO EXCUSE.

Becoming less common, how could that ever be known how common it is/was?
The catholic church is an easy target due to the victims experiences, over time the sheer numbers are too great to be taken as an anomaly.
