MESS I thought the spelling out were lyrics so I went back and tried to listen for her spelling out APPLAUSE but then I realised I was hearing it as "baby it's the empire" for 5+ years

Not really misheard, but I didn't realise the Bad Romance verse ''I want your psycho, your vertigo shtick, want you in my rear window'' was a Hitchcock reference until a few years ago
