it's gonna be a big party if they become champions

alex_front2 15-03-2016 12:33 PM

The title race is really exciting this year. Arsenal, Man City clinging on, only because they desperately need Leicester and Spurs to slip up. West Ham outside shot, Man U more or less out.

Nice commeratative 60th birthday tribute from Rayo Vallecano fans to late Laurie Cunningham who died in 1989 aged 33 in a car accident. For those unaware he was at the time the second black England international and he started his career at Leyton Orient and went on to play for a string of clubs including West Bromwich, Real Madrid , Man U, and Leicester City.

I love Rayo Vallecano fans, they are brilliant like St Pauli fans.

Wonderful player, sadly back then it was difficult for Black players to get in the national team, or he would have won far more caps, he would have been one of the main stars for England.

He should have been at both the 82 and 86 World cups simply on his talent, finally it took the genius performances of John Barnes to break the mould for Black players, but Cunningham was just as good.

Tragic end.

Keep hearing rumours that Kasper Schmeichel will leave at end of season as he's in demand by so called bigger clubs eg Schalke, Lyon, Seville, and Man U but only if De Gea does leave (unlikely as DG's move to Real Madrid looks not to happen due to embargoes and the popularity of Navas)

Kasper is a very good goalie, does the basics well and pulls out some great saves to keep LCFC in games, Danish international and has definitely emerged from his father's shadow. He's a lot better than many goalies at bigger clubs eg Mignolet, Ospina (Cech will be out for a few more games), Hart (mistakes are creeping into his game), Courtois average this season and it now looks like the only thing he had over Cech was youth, and has not been great. The only one currently playing big club better than him is De Gea. Although I rate Butland, a fit Cech, Lloris over Schmeicel but that's it.

The only thing going against Schmeichel is he has a "1990s goalkeeper " build big , broad and chunky whereas now the vogue is about being lean tall and lanky like a De Gea or Courtoius. We won't see many Neville Southall, David Season burley types in elite football soon: dying breed. I can see KS having a good Euros and his agent using this and EPL title or #2nd place to shop around for an elite club. China is not an option for goalies as the clubs are only permitted to use home grown in their league, so to get a pay day goalies need to go to the elite clubs.

People will think Schmiechel is mediocre but he's let in some very unstopple goals and don't forget he's playing behind a bang average - if not dodgy but very lucky - defence.

Robert Huth, great leader, charismatic great guy to have around I'd imagine, combative but past his Cheslea peak, Wes Morgan captain, sturdy, good decison making, and ex Nottingham Forrest legend, but past it, Danny Simpson is stealing a living, he's like a lottery winner who has got bloody lucky to be in this side table topping side. He's made so many mistakes this season which could have been costly. Cant believe the Arsenal away match was his first red card of the season. Fuchs is a class act but hardly the best in his position in EPL and add to this little Ben Chilwell is one for next season. It's midfielder N'golo Kantes hard work in defensive duties that's had the impact. It scares me that this back 4 top EPL. :joker:

If Leicester do end up in Europa or CL , then they need to strengthen back 4 as it's shocking. They have been extremely lucky and relied on hard work. Don't get all media hype about Simpson he needs to go or settle for squad football next season. He should be no where near the CL team. He is the type to ship in 2 soft goals from Gent, let alone Atletico Madrid, let alone Barca.

You stick Schmeichel behind a top defence and he'll be fine.

Leicester sign Sultan of Brunei's 17 year old nephew from Chelsea to youth academy (rumoured to be renamed soemthing pretentious like Los Zorruelos)

He's better be half decent because this feels like a spoilt rich kid trying to buy his way to a EPL title. Terrible choice.

Leicester should stop trying to be glamorous and sexy. Leicester seem to like these gimmicky signings such as the attempt to get Ronaldinho and now past his prime Totti. If they got Totti aged 39 from Roma it would be a fail as Totti's passion for Roma would never be replicated. If they think they can bring Totti for legacy reasons, think again. It would remind me of when Leicester bought a past it Roberto Mancini on loan. At Leicester, Mancini fell in love with English football (and Robbie Savage) but bugg#red off very quickly after a handful of games to manage in Italy, when he realised he could manage in the well paid EPL one day. Did he return to manage Leicester? Nope, he ended up with Man City of course.

Mancini: I want Leicester to win

Ranieri et al need to realise it's the clever unknown bargains like Vardy, Mahrez and Kante that are the template not gimmicky has-been and spoilt rich kids.

Leicester story goes New York styles. Blimey.

Alf 03-04-2016 06:32 AM

A win today and they'll be able to smell the trophy.

The question is, has the International break upset the momentum they've been on?

Geesh another sneaky 1-0 win to Leicester City v Soton.

This week last season. Leicester 7 points adrift from relegation. Today 7 points clear at top.

Leicester on April 3rd 2015: Seven points from safety
Leicester on April 3rd 2016: Seven points clear at the top.

http://pbs.twimg.com/media/CfIVrcjUAAAbWKh.jpg

Soton were basically abysmal and any penalty shouts were non arguments. It's as if Koeman befriended Ranieri at the England v Holland game and agreed to surrender and wave the white flag. Pathetic. Are teams becoming romantics and just rolling over and allowing Leicester to win. There goes my £43,000 ACCA. #uselessgits.

Vardy's better than Owen.

Its been a land mark season in the Premiership. Now we can see how badly some teams are undeachieving. And I dont only mean Arsenal, Everton have no excuse for their league position.

What Leicester are showing is that we have talented players wasting away in the lower leagues for flash in the pan players who are completely useless, or think that they're above the Sport in some cases.

What?

I totally disagree, in-fact I'll tell you right now that Owen is the best English player I've ever seen in my lifetime, better than Gascoigne, better than Barnes, better than Shearer, better than Rooney.

At 17 he was just as good as Pele was when he was 17, between the age of 17 and 22 before he started to pick up bad injury's, Owen was the best player in the World, above Brazilian Ronaldo.

Remember the goal against Argentina, what about the Hat-trick in Germany or the lethal finish in the World cup quarter final against Brazil or the Owen Cup final, as an Arsenal fan I'm sure you remember that.

Owen played for Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United, 3 of the Worlds biggest clubs. Vardy's had a good season and half for Leicester, let's not get carried away.

Twice Premier league golden boot winner, Premier League player of the year winner and a Ballon d'Or winner. He also won the BBC sports personality of the year at the age of 18.

Mystic Mock 16-04-2016 08:21 AM

Vardy's had a phenomenal season, but let's see if he can keep it up before comparing him to Michael Owen.

Bib: now I know you are a pi$$ taker. And to think you had me fooled with the sincerity of your posts.

I know I say this every week and am wrong but I do think the LCFC title challenge will go wrong (Spurs will win) and I think this West Ham game will be the beginning of the end of Leicester's dreams.

There's a bizarre rumour flying around that LEICESTER are trying to lure ex Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli (who won Copa America last year) to be another Ranieri's no 2 /assistant. Which would be a crazy audacious coup as he was initially the first choice favourite to replace Mourinho at Chelsea but Abromovic was worried at his lack of English (Conte knows basic English and not nothing as widely reported). If true this is as crazy as them trying to get to Ronaldinho in January.

Not at all, Owen was terrorising and ripping apart defences in the best league in the World at 17, what league was Pele playing in at that age? Ok he happened to be in a World cup winning team at 17 (and played his part), but individually on a weekly basis, he wasn't doing what Owen was.

Owen's was 18 when he got to play in the World cup and showed the World what he's all about, getting in to the team of the tournament.

I understand your shock at me comparing Owen to the great Pele, but don't underestimate how good Owen was in his early career.

Oh trust me I know exactly how "good " Owen was as an 17/18 year old and he was not fit to lace Pele's third pair of boots*. He was a kid who did well, was better than the other English kids and showed potential. Nothibg more nothing less.To compare him to the greatest player of all time, a world cup winner at 17, three time winner (would have been 4 had he not got injured in 1966, sorry England) is quite frankly an insult.

It's the same sort of mentality which compares lightweight mediocrity Sharapova to greatness Serena, Garcia to Tiger Woods, Tyson Fury to Tyson, Joe Root to Brian Lara, average voiced Adele to vocal goddess Aretha Franklin. Just plain wrong and 100% offensive. Hmmmmmmmmm. :cloud::cloud: :fist::fist::nono::nono::inamood::inamood: :notimpressed::notimpressed::hmph: :rant::rant::facepalm:

alex_front2 17-04-2016 08:38 PM

Vardy has Done this a few times this season and got away with it.

To be honest, he probably needs a break. Luckily for Leicester they do have other goalscorers: The likes of Ulloa, Okazaki, Albrighton, Gray and Drinkwater need to step up to the plate. Can see Mahrez is getting very lazy again.
