Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades said the incident was not terror related.

He added: "We are doing our utmost in order for everyone to be released and safe and to give an end to this unprecedented incident."

On the one hand it's great it's not terror related, on the other it's worrying how apparently easy it was for this guy working presumably on his own to take control of a plane

How on Earth did they get on board with a bomb/guns?

Kizzy 29-03-2016 09:33 AM

He..a lone person by the looks of things, he might be bluffing which has all sorts of implications for travel :umm2: and if he does have a gun/bomb the staff at the airport he travelled out of should be sacked :idc:

Samm 29-03-2016 09:35 AM

It's apparently just domestic and not terrorism

He wants to speak to his ex wife :umm2: But even if he is bluffing and it now appears that he is, how easy was it for him to take control with no weapons

Well this is the thing, people are terrified because of all the ISIS stuff going on so it's instantly assumed that it's them I guess :/

Idiot.
Hopefully he get a good long jail sentence.
Incidents like this make you realise why they come down hard on hoaxers who think it is ok to joke about having a bomb etc.

Livia 29-03-2016 10:02 AM

Lucky for him he wasn't on an El-Al flight. He'd be dead now.

Ibrahim Samaha has been in contact with the media to say he was a passenger, now freed, and not the hijacker.

Cherie 29-03-2016 11:15 AM

The reporting on this has been a disgrace I've just listened to a press conference by the Cypriot President where he claimed it wasn't terrorist related and there was lots of laughter about a women being involved, now it appears it is terrorist related :umm2:
