If white people claimed that black people weren't allowed wear their hair a certain way there would be up roar.

They originated from Egypt. Celtics probably stole it at the time who knows.

Regarding the rest of your comment I explained in another comment why it's extremely annoying.

The whole concept is dumb, no human owns the rights to a certain look or hairstyle and even if they did another person appreciating it and wearing it themselves should be seen as a compliment. People just want to be outraged over everything these days.

Oh get over yourself would you, I seriously doubt that Celts stole a hairstyle from Egyptians, it is possible that they both just had the same idea. Or do you reckon the Celts were trying to mock the Egyptians for some reason? :umm2:

What about when it's bleach blonde? Does blonde hair not originate with white people? They should be up in arms about it!

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 04-04-2016 01:07 PM

Posting black issues on a board full of white people is just a waste of time because they'll just ridicule it off the bat instead of trying to understand where the animosity is coming from.

The difference is when you guys copy you then take credit for it. Ie, Jazz, rock n roll, the press saying Kim K invented box braids, Eminem the best rapper ever, how many white girls on tv doing the reggae/pop and getting number 1 all over the place, apparently Kylie Jenner made locks chic again which set off a brand new wave of annoyance in blacks, and kylie plumping her lips and people loving vs mac posting a black girl with full natural and getting racist hate. If y'all weren't so annoying we would embrace the copycat **** more.

Show me a black person they embrace and elevate in the metal community. Nah instead black gets, n8ggers don't belong in metal.

Nobody in surprised white people are mocking the meaning of ''cultural appropriation'' because that's what they do best demean anything black people find important.

The problem is that almost every post you make on this board is complaining about white people, white women mainly tbh, I do try to listen to where you're coming from and to understand but as a white woman myself it gets wearing listening to you insult me almost everytime you post tbqh. I do actually agree with you on alot of things you say but this is just stupid imo. I've never actually saw you say ever that "you know what that isn't racist" it's like you're always waiting for something you can call racist

Aren't some of y'all the ones that accused the black girl from Big brother of trying to be white?

It's because that's what black people are going threw on a daily basis and yeah it is tiring. I suppose we see it more because we see everything on the internet now.

I did actually say somethings aren't racist or offensive like when the pub man wore his English flag.

Nevermind. For years black people went through sh8t now that they're speaking back finally people can't handle it. We all have to be good little nigg8ers and take a back seat. :bawling:

the kpop community is riddled with this cultural appropriation outrage and other looney nonsense and it's so embarrassing, there's genuine inequality and oppression in the world and people want to get super angry at seungri for wearing a native american headdress it's really not a big deal

This isn't a black issue though, it's just a hairstyle - and one that isn't even synonymous only with black people.

I do understand that but I think you have to also understand that people are instantly going to go into defensive mode if you come across as attacking them, it's human nature

Oh please, fight your battles by all means, but complaining about stuff like this demeans black people and makes them look bitter.

When one doesn't get it one doesn't innit.

Telling to a black person-but this isn't a black issue though...standard reaction:shrug: What color am I wearing today? I say red but maybe you'll tell me no, it's blue?

I'm not so sure as white people stole a lot of things back in the day and claimed it as their own.

England shipped tens of thousands of Irish prisoners after the 1798 Irish Rebellion to be sold as slaves in the Colonies and Australia. There were horrendous abuses by the slavers, both to Africans and Irish.

I didn't say your issues aren't valid but carry on passive aggressively putting words into my mouth why don't you, that's really going to help the lines of communication

You're not allowed to say that though Niamh because everything is Americanised, and in American history, black people and Native Americans suffered at the hands of white people.

The treatment of Celtic people in both Ireland and Scotland, for hundreds of years, was absolutely abysmal. Do we kick off when we see an English man in a kilt? No.

That's just one example of one population being abused by another across Europe, throughout history... But apparently, that's all irrelevant.

I personally say keep it simple. If one person wants to embrace another culture in a positive and appreciative way - whether it's "theirs" or not - then where is the bad? Save your battles for situations where there is actual prejudice and hatred.
