She shouldn't have spent 4k to be in the house if she doesn't like people who get drunk/being sick after drinking.

Black Dagger 06-04-2016 02:37 PM

She wanted the experience and lots of people don't like vomit. I find it commendable actually how she spent so much trying to acomplish what she wanted <333333

I understand where Susie and other people's frustration came from because they were sharing a house with each other

Of course people are entitled to do what they want, and I'm entitled to say I think it's ridiculous if I think it is. The "well it doesn't harm you" point doesn't really work for me since, using that logic, none of us should ever voice a negative opinion on anything that happens on BB since it doesn't directly affect us.

Brilliant point. :clap1:

And of course, the big difference between someone forcing more alcohol down their throats than they can actually handle and someone liking a cup of tea and an early night is that the latter doesn't cause hassle for the people around them.

Cal. 06-04-2016 02:46 PM

Why are you debating whether a woman can drink tea or not

Anyways she wasn't to my taste so I voted no.

Absolutely! Except within the confines of an entertainment programme, that's not exactly riveting TV...by all means do that at home, but if you're gonna spend £4K to come into the Big Brother house, at least make an effort.

And no before someone states the obvious - that does not mean the act of throwing up is riveting TV either - but making a mess and pissing others off in the process certainly can be, moreso than retiring to bed early is at least.

Indeed, except this isn't any normal house, it's the Big Brother one. If there's any environment where I'd expect people to be getting paralytic, throwing up and acting like twats it's in there. Quite frankly if you don't like that sort of thing then a) you definitely shouldn't go in there and b) Big Brother probably isn't the show for you

Well I would say that you perhaps have your priorities in the wrong place. There's people who can't afford to put food on the table, a million people living off food banks, hundreds of thousands of people who are unemployed and a huge number of people who have problems with drug addictions as a result of all of these, but people whom drink so much to escape reality and then throw up are committing such a massive crime! Sure :hee:

So long as someone clears up their own mess if they throw up, I still don't see how it's of any importance to anyone else what someone chooses to do with their body. Just smacks of being snobby when really, live and let live.

Though of course that's reversed in the Big Brother house because causing hassle for the people around them is a good thing and it should be applauded

But Susie pissed off most of her housemates and the general viewing audience simply by doing nothing... which is why I love her <3

It's so funny how pressed everyone got that she wasn't following the conventional housemate route of 'party all day, party all night' and instead spent her time being a kitchen monster, tea bag hag and being 'a lady' <333

Dominic 06-04-2016 03:11 PM

Ladies just leave it, we have better things to do here than argue, like... make a cup or tea!

So, by simply voicing a negative opinion on people who decide to drink more than they can handle, that means I view it as more of an issue than those other things you mentioned? I'd love you to point me towards where I ever suggested that. :joker:

Actually, why aren't you taking your own advice? You're getting uppity at someone holding a differing opinion to you, shouldn't you be out concentrating on the real issues of the world and not fixating on something as trivial as this? Or does it not apply to you?

When the next series of BB rolls around, I look forward to you never criticizing anything anyone does because, clearly, to do so would be wasting dear time that should be spent on more important matters. Right?

Because as I've already pointed out, binge drinking culture and indeed getting so paralytic to the point of throwing up is indicative of a wide range of social problems that led to such an occurrence. By choosing to focus solely on 'ew how pathetic, drink less in future' you are ignoring a wide range of factors that I listed that are often attributed to such behaviour. And plus, you've still not actually answered why a person getting drunk to the point of throwing up - using their own body - is actually a problem for anyone else but themselves (or indeed society when you look at the bigger problems influencing this), so long as they clear up after themselves? Again, it smacks of being snobby

Sorry but you can't really flip this around, that's not going to work :joker: I'm asking why you find such a trivial issue so important. I've stated I don't think it's important - because it isn't. You were the one who responded to me in this thread, not the other way round, so it's you who should be answering why such a trivial issue is seemingly such a big crime

and lmao I look forward to the same because when it comes to Big Brother I almost never criticise anything any housemate does - unless it's actually serious like a Dennis incident - for reasons like 'this isn't real life', 'we're not living with them so why should we care', 'both sides should be applauded for causing this issue that we're all talking about' etc etc. I very, very rarely say anything like 'they were so out of order for doing that!', usually you'll find me congratulating them on doing it and making the show...people should know that of me by now. I take an objective stance on all things Big Brother UK related so feel free to prove me wrong this summer, but I'll be amazed if you do. I don't care what people do on the house for the most part, so long as they're doing something :joker:

Again, I'm sensing a little bit of inconsistency here.

Eh? I've been perfectly civil in this thread, you were the one who quoted me and then proceeded to use the ':)' smiley to try and be patronising. If you do that I'm going to retaliate. I've been personal with no one else, just curious as to why anyone could possibly care about someone else doing something with their own body that's all, it's such a non-issue and I'm yet to be shown examples of how it's anything but being snobby

Lostie! 06-04-2016 03:48 PM

You've been perfectly civil? Jack, you're very rarely perfectly civil to people on here and this is no different.

Case in point, having the gall to suggest issues like poverty, unemployment and addiction aren't of importance to me. Each one of those has, and continues to, have a negative affect on my life, before you know anything about me don't make insulting and unfair assumptions about me as a person. You don't have that right.

Jesus Christ, we're ****ing discussing Big Brother. Not everything has to become a debate about social issues and an excuse to have a self righteous rant about how small minded people are to the real world etc etc.

Susie causing fumes <333

Jack_ 06-04-2016 03:59 PM

Please highlight the post in this thread where I wasn't civil to someone before they were uncivil to me? I even responded to your initial quote respectfully, it was only when you tried to patronise me that I retaliated. I will always engage in civil debates (with few exceptions with certain on season regulars who shan't be named) with people until they try to make it otherwise, this thread has been no different. Where was I rude initially?

You are now putting words into my mouth and exaggerating what I've said. Again - I am and continue to be curious as to why someone getting drunk and throwing up (which just happens to be indicative of a whole range of social issues, the point I'm making is that it's not as simple as 'well just drink less' which is more or less the reasoning you cited, not that you don't care about other issues) is at all a problem for anyone else but themselves  that's all, you chose to jump on this, not me or anyone else

Greg! 06-04-2016 04:02 PM

That fact that susie can generate 40 bibles worth of opinions on an online thread 10 years later just proves that she is an amazing housemate :clap1:

But it's not always "indicative of a whole range of social issues". Sometime it's as simple as someone just wanting to go out and get ridiculously drunk for the sake of it and those are the situations I was referring to. The thing that sparked this debate was the Glyn situation, which had nothing to do with unemployment, addiction etc. It was just someone being silly (imo) and drinking more than they could handle, and I'm personally not a fan of those antics (which isn't all that different from you not being a fan of someone being 'boring' and preferring a quiet night and a cup of tea, it doesn't make someone snobby to not be a big fan of certain social situations). It was as simple as that.

I hope I've put my point across clearly enough now because I think this debate has derailed the thread for long enough now (partly my fault for continuing it in the first place).

Marsh. 06-04-2016 04:57 PM

This. I despise those people

To answer the poll question, I would say no, but I wouldn't say she was a terrible housemate. She was just average really, I don't get why people make such a big deal about her

Jamie89 06-04-2016 05:30 PM

Susie being a 'snob' about drinking or kebabs or whatever is all part of her charm. The fact that someone 'shouldn't' go in if they hold those views only adds to her value as a HM in my opinion because we should see all sorts of different hm's interacting, so power to her for going against type and not being afraid to bring something different, or go into an environment where she probably won't be wanted/included. Not everyone has to like her obviously but the fact that so many do 10 years later proves that she did provide for a large number of people and based on that alone I don't see how she could be classed as anything other than a good housemate.

Jordan. 06-04-2016 07:38 PM

loving the poll result!
