Pop girl diva queen forums are not most forums. :nono:

I said slay on DS once and they thought I'd had a stroke.

No. The get along gang would just use it to reinforce their clique. They already have the silly clappy smiley to do that. :clap1:

Which kiss bum cliques are these?

It will be a terrible idea to have a thumbs up button because some will only use it to spite/troll others.

Pete. 19-04-2016 05:52 PM

A necessity. I don't see why people think it will be a bad tool when it works fine on a majority of forums. It's only a dislike button that will cause issues

Marsh. 19-04-2016 05:54 PM

I don't see why people think no because of "trolling" or "cliques".

It's no different than someone quoting and agreeing to a post, only it takes less effort and prevents pointless posts like "This".

I'd like it

MTVN 19-04-2016 07:26 PM

Have always been opposed to it because it turns posting into a popularity contest to see who can get most 'likes' or thumbs up. And it would get used in arguments to pile in on either side and people would complain that liking a certain post is baiting etc.

Would actually put me off posting, if it was ever put in place I'd like an option to disable it for people who don't want it as well

Marsh. 19-04-2016 07:29 PM

Baiting.

MTVN 19-04-2016 07:31 PM

What's with the face? I'd say more posts get reported for 'baiting' than anything else

Shaun 19-04-2016 07:36 PM

Maybe I'm being naive but I can't really see why it would be taken seriously enough to create arguments. Wouldn't the eventuality of an argument over who has the most likes or "I got more likes than you so your point is invalid" be automatically dismissed as childish idiocy anyway?

Idk I just think it's a kinda nice idea that could fall into misuse territory but honestly... the level of repetitive fighting in certain sections on here... you could arrange for a food hamper to be delivered to every member and some would find a way to throw it at each other, it seems silly to dismiss a reasonably innocuous feature because it may - just may - get misused.

Anything to cut down on [2] or ^this or :clap2: posts is welcome imo. I just see this as something to be used to express support and agreement rather than brown nosing.

You'd hope so but I'm not convinced. It's also not just that, I think people would gear their posts more toward getting likes, you might say no one's that sad but surely we all see people on social media who fish for likes etc. I just feel like it would come to dominate a lot of threads and that it isn't a necessary feature, maybe I'm unusual but I wouldn't want my posting being measured by likes and wouldn't want the feature to apply.

I agree with this but on the other hand you could say the effort and thought put into posts to get them noticed could improve as well, it would be 50/50
