They don't, prejudice is learned...nobody is born racist or homophobic because there's just no reason for them to be, it's stupid.

There would still be parents who tried to stop their kids from seeing stuff like this but they'd at least be exposed to it at school and stuff, it's the best way to combat it.

I want LGBT cartoon characters but I don't want them to be existing characters that may have got existing plot lines behind them... Frozen 2 is happening. Elsa is probably going to find straight love. Do people really think theyll do a u-turn??? Just make new characters rather than making a random thing for a character just because some SJW's said so

It just seems like making a case for it for the sake of it, when we should have some proper LGBT prince and princesses with the characteristics.

All of this. :clap2:

I don't think she was designed to be gay so I think it would feel like pandering. I like the fact that she's not a Disney princess whose only priority is romance and I'd rather they keep her single in future films.

They should design an LGBT princess instead of changing previously created characters to fill the role.

i think what upset me the most was seeing all the people who shipped anna/elsa on tumblr

Shaun 04-05-2016 11:39 PM

I'm here for Aladdin going gay. I'd ride his magic carpet etc.

i just googled Elsanna to prove it but i couldnt even go through with looking at the pics. my god there are some sick people out there

Marsh. 05-05-2016 01:48 AM

I was already repulsed by that picture of Snow White partaking in bukkake with the seven dwarfs.

Natalie. 05-05-2016 05:43 AM

I don't think so

I think it'd be better to make a new film about it, which I'd love to see

Why bring sexuality at all into what is essentially a childrens film? Todays society seems intent on ruining childrens innocence and making them grow up far too quickly. Let them have one area of their lives uncluttered by sexual promotion from any side.

Because sexuality is a part of childhood, it allows them to see that being gay is acceptable. Many people don't have that support.

Yeah I agree with this, can we have a Princess who doesn't need romance for once, that'd be as unusual as a disney Princess who is gay tbqh

But yeah, I don't really have a strong opinion on this whole thing

The point of that isn't to show an exact demographic representation of the area, it's to teach kids that multiculturalism should be seen as normal, because one day they might move out of their 'white only' area and experience the real world and hopefully react to asian, chinese, black etc people without prejudice.

But on this I've decided I agree with the people saying she should have no romance whatsoever and be independent (and maybe introduce a new, separate lgbt character instead).

thats not the job of a kids tv show thats a parents job. The kids show should be accurate . multiculturalism isnt normal on mull where the show is set.

Also multiculturalism has caused huge problems in the UK due to its uncontrolled nature so its also a lie

Livia 05-05-2016 11:08 AM

I'm not keen on the idea of making a character gay as an afterthought. I'd like them to create a strong gay character and make it crystal clear from the start. Disney had a black princess and the sky didn't fall in. You think they'd have learned from that.

There really isn't any benefit to a kid being taught by a kids show that everyone on the mull is white. Whereas there is benefit to teaching them about multiculturalism because regardless of whether or not anyone thinks it's a good or bad thing, it's the reality of the world they're growing up in. So it doesn't matter where the show is set. (And as far as kids shows needing to be accurate goes, I can't remember ever meeting any talking animals or living glove puppets etc , it's about the message they're being taught).
And yes it's mainly the parents job to teach them things like that but there's also nothing wrong with a kids show teaching them too (especially since a lot of parents might not bother)... it's no different to characters on sesame street solving maths problems or whatever. It's not their 'job' to teach them maths, but most kids shows have an educational element to them anyway (which is a good thing surely?) If the issue is simply that you're against multiculturalism, well to be honest, it's like me saying that I'm against maths and I don't want to see cartoonified numbers popping up on kids shows because it's so unrealistic and I'd rather pretend that numbers don't exist.

People on Mull aren't white. That is nothing to be ashamed of. If they wanted to show a multi-cultural community then set it in Birmingham or Leicester or London. By showing various cultures pretending they live in what is an all-white community makes it look like an all-white community is something to be ashamed of. And it isn't.

billy123 05-05-2016 11:22 AM

It really is beyond me why any character in childrens tv should be sexualised in any way i find that creepy.
I doubt there are any little kids wanting to know its just just adults being odd.
I really dont think little kids even think about or care if Elsa is gay, lesbian, hetrosexual.hermaphrodite, bisexual, bla ck,white, fictional, real, disney, pixtar or even from Leeds. They are just a princess.

My point is though that there's nothing wrong with them showing different cultures even if in real life you wouldn't find it in that particular area, because it's a kids show and it doesn't have to be realistic in that respect, so the setting isn't really important. I can't see how it would have any negative impact on the kids watching it, but the positive is that they're getting used to seeing different cultures mixing.
