I don't think it's racist at all, considering his story why :joker:

Maybe a bit ill informed of the potential backlash tho!

He' just so nasty that it's very hard to feel sorry for him

It doesn't seem to be the same as 'blackface' (the kind that used to be done in a derogatory way) to me, but I can see why people would be upset about it, because it reminds them of that. Still though, I don't think something should be deemed offensive just because it reminds people of something that is offensive. I think intent is very important, and reading the article it does seem like his intent was innocent. (He also doesn't seem to be the brightest person lol, not that ignorance is an excuse when racism does happen, but I can believe that he genuinely wouldn't have thought about the history of blackface and just thought of it as dressing up as someone he'd met, like he says, as a response to them dressing up as him).

He could have just worn the outfit without blacking up and the in joke would have made sense, I doubt the guy who wore his clothes on holiday 'white'd up' for it.

He's an actual hateful moron.

Of course it's not bloody racist ...any more than a bloke in a frock is sexist...sum people are obsessed with racism accusations, they get off in it ...the guy is many things, monumental tool being one if em, but he's not racist

I don't find it funny at all but I don't think it's racist either.

Still think he's a massive idiot though.

hot2go 09-06-2016 02:27 PM

Racism is such a serious accusation to make about someone... and the more people misuse it the more it diminishes it

What's the difference between slapping on fake tan?

None.

This however, wasn't a misuse.

That is so true

Someone is only offensive if they're intending to be offensive...anything else is just a mistake ...if the person is sorry when they realise they caused offence then they can not be called offensive
