Yeah, 10-13 episodes is my favourite length for a TV season. Long enough for a fleshed out story without having to throw in filler. :clap1:

HBO's seasons are usually around that length aren't they?

Episode 1

is 9PM - 10:20PM

Next tuesday

Jason. 28-09-2016 06:25 PM

I'm going to give this a go. I like the sound of it and I've heard a lot of people talking about it. And I saw a bus poster for it today too

Lostie! 28-09-2016 10:30 PM

I knew you'd give in.

Lostie! 03-10-2016 02:48 PM

I really enjoyed the first episode, glad to see it seems to be being really well received online too :clap1:

Spoiler:

The production values really are phenomenal  I love period settings so I really like how the scenes in the park really feel like an actual western :flutter:

There was a fair bit of controversy about the Dolores' rape in the run-up to the show airing and it was the scene I was least looking forward to so I was pleasantly surprised it was kept off-screen and the show didn't feel the need to show it for shock value. The implication was more than enough.

The twist with Teddy was a nice way to introduce him (even though I figured he was a robot since the trailer showed him lying "dead" and obviously they wouldn't give that away but I still liked it as a narrative technique and I'm sure it was a great swerve for the people who weren't obsessing over every promo like I was ).

I also love how creepy it looks when they start glitching and when they're stopped mid-action. Also the little stiff movements that old retired one made, it's all just really well-done. :clap2:

That final shot of Dolores swatting the fly was a perfect little omen, I'm here for her going psycho on the more deranged guests.

I adore shows that are really mysterious and mind screwy and full of opportunities for theorising (well my username's Lostie so obviously) and there's already a lot of discussion and theories floating around so I can really see this show being something I get really hooked on.

The promo for the rest of the season looks amazing :flutter:

Niamh. 04-10-2016 01:12 PM

oh I'm definitely giving this one a go

Lostie! 04-10-2016 01:33 PM

You really should. It's so intriguing and gives you a lot to think about. And there are really some brilliant performances from some of the actors.

arista 04-10-2016 04:52 PM

9PM tonight

Top actors, as well.

It's taken a lot of willpower to not watch the second episode since HBO released it early, didn't want to have more than a week's wait for episode 3 :joker: (from what I've seen its getting positive reviews too :clap1:)

BBUKAUSFAN 08-10-2016 11:12 PM

Watched episode 1 and 2 and really liking this show and cant wait to see how it all plays out.

Lostie! 10-10-2016 02:07 PM

Loved the second episode, even better than the first :clap1:

I've read a theory that
Spoiler:

the scenes with William and Logan are actually taking place 30 years ago and William is the younger version of the Man in Black. I would absolutely love this :flutter:

Is Teddy gonna be shot dead every week? He really is Westworld's very own Kenny :joker:

Jason. 10-10-2016 03:21 PM

I haven't gotten around to watching this yet as I've been so busy with work the past week but I'll be watching the first episode tonight :spin:

arista 11-10-2016 07:15 PM

Episode 2 tonight 9PM

Lostie! 11-10-2016 07:58 PM

What did you think of the first episode, arista?

..haha, that's exactly what I thought as well about Teddy, that it was almost comical like Kenny......I agree, I enjoyed the second episode so much more because I wasn't so sure in the first one who the visitors were and who the Westworld people were and actually I thought Teddy was a visitors at first/the first time he was shot...Thandie Newton was amazing in this episode../the development of her character...she's one of my favourite actresses anyway, so......also Anthony Hopkins/I'm loving him.....

I am such an avid Brynner and J.J. Abrahams fan, and of the original Westworld film, that I was eagerly looking forward to this series.

I was though, hugely disappointed by the first episode - mainly because it deviated so much from the original film's storyline that it was a little confusing just who were the humans and who were not, and that was immensely distracting.

The second episode was much, much better, and I am beginning to really enjoy this.

I still have a sneaking feeling that the apparent 'protagonist' may yet turn out to be the 'antagonist' and that J.J. may have inverted the storyline - we'll see.

Oh yeah Thandie was brilliant, Maeve has been one of the characters I've been most intrigued by so I loved all the focus on her this week

I did really enjoy the premiere but yeah I felt like it really got into it's groove in this episode and I loved getting more focus on the other side of things with seeing the experience of the visitors to Westworld etc.

Are you referring to Dolores or William? I could definitely see either (or both) of them going bad  (and in a show involving both JJ Abrams and Jonathan Nolan we surely have some big twists in store).

Niamh. 12-10-2016 01:58 PM

Oh I didn't realise there was a film, if I watched that would it spoil the show anyway?

Lostie! 12-10-2016 02:01 PM

I wouldn't say so, the show is based on the same general premise but is pretty different on the whole :)

Lostie! 12-10-2016 02:04 PM

I have to say one little aspect of the show I'm not liking is Sizemore (that English storyline creator guy). He's just ****ing annoying in every possible way and the sooner a Host goes haywire and kills him the better :idc:

Lostie! 16-10-2016 02:10 PM

Another cool little featurette HBO have uploaded, "Reality of AI" (with more new footage so if you're not into trailers etc don't watch ).

I really find thinking about this stuff fascinating.

Spoiler:

2:27 D:

One of the things I'm loving about Westworld most is the video game comparison, both with how interactions with certain Hosts activate particular storylines and also the analogy between what some of the guests do to the Hosts and what people do when playing games like GTA without caring because none of it's real. I think taking a futuristic concept and grounding it in ideas that are recognisable and very current today (albeit in different form) was a really good idea.

Strictly Jake 17-10-2016 01:24 PM

Caught up with this last night it's really good, I mean it's pretty deprived and has a bit too much swearing in for my liking like an unnecessary amount especially when watching it with your parents, but the whole idea of it I really love

Lostie! 19-10-2016 12:15 PM

That scene with younger Anthony Hopkins :flutter:

...when you think as well of the original movie and no thought back in the day then could have been of the possibility of computer interactive characters and stories becoming a reality...(there probably hadn't even been colour in movies for that long....)...

Spoiler:

...also the reference to Teddy having died thousands of times...yep, he's Kenny.....
