Stories like his annoy me, only because it's a reminder that homophobia will always exist.

I think that this country has done a great job at making sure that Homophobia isn't a big issue in the country anymore, yes there's the odd incident but the homophobes in question normally get punished by the law if took too far.

I personally feel that on a prejudice front I think that the UK needs to be the most concerned about Racism followed by Islamophobia, then by Misogyny and Misandry (yes I know that they sound like they contradict each other) but I personally feel that those are more on a rise and a real issue in this country compared to Homophobia which is thankfully dying out in this country.

On this subject how far did their touching go exactly? Like was they touching each others penises in public?

T* 11-08-2016 05:03 PM

They were probably holding ****ing hands

They should have used their non-****ing hands.

I hope they washed them. :yuk:

Homophobia is dying out in this country??
No, what planet are you on?
Yes it's not as bad as it used to be but I wouldn't say it's in its dying out stages, not at all...

I think within the next couple of decades that Homophobia won't be such a big thing, where as I bet the others that I've mentioned in my other post will be on the rise.

Btw if it's just that they held hands then I think that the Security Guard is disgusting, but it's hard to judge the situation when all we've got is a Security Guard throws a gay couple out of Sainsbury's for touching each other, but the question is was it appropriate touching in public, or was they about to have sex like a lot of straight couples do in these Supermarkets (which btw not enough is done about that) because if it's the latter then I'll support the Security Guard, even though straight couples should get the same punishment too.

Crimson Dynamo 11-08-2016 05:10 PM

you could get 8 cans of K cider for that amount

They could both get bladdered and then have a top night of rogerisation

That is the problems with the gays

Yeah, I agree partially with what you have said. The UK has progressed as far as legalising Gay Marriage, for example. But it's not going to prevent every single person from being homophobic. As far as LGBT rights go as well, we've observed blatant ignorance towards bisexuals on the show that caused us to join this forum. That's still an issue in society, biphobia is actually growing to more of a thing (persay).

I would argue that all civil rights issues should be looked at equally, but I get where you're coming from. There are matters that are perpetuated due to certain things are going on (and are highlighted in the media) in the world, but this story kinda proves that homophobia will always be a (even if it is, slight) issue.

How were they 'touching each other' is surely what needs to be asked here, before homophobia accusations start flying?

Vicky. 11-08-2016 05:19 PM

Nevermind, was hesitant to click the sun link but did anyway after posting. Holding hands? **** off security guard...assuming this is indeed the full story. Security guy should be disciplined tbh

I see what you mean, and I agree that Biphobia is a problem as even the LGBT community seems to be more split on that issue than I realised.

It's a shame really at how prejudice is still such a thing in the world, in particular with homophobia as I know someone really close to me that is gay and I'd never want anything to happen to him just for being gay.

Yeah, and it's weird in a sense that most gay people who are on TV tend to say that a majority of the hateful comments they get are mainly from other gay people, which is a whole different issue in itself

It's definitely a shame. But like you said, there's always progress. The U.K. is generally an okay place to be yourself, though there are (and probably always will be) problems. As long as you friend has people like you to make them happy then things should be fine :)

You usually have to confirm something is afoot before you confront someone since you risk situations like this.

I'd bet money on the guard simply being a homophobe. I've worked on a Customer Service desk before and the protocol for most complaints is to deliver a stock response and blow them off. You only take action on legitimate complaints and chances are the staff will know what's happening and will act on it sooner than someone has a chance to make a complaint.
