the volleyball women from us not qualifying was more surprising than the men

I gave up on bothering too much about the Olympics after Ben Johnson . I’ve never taken it seriously since .... then after it came out after one year that 7 out of the 8 in the final had tested positive meaning the 8th place guy was ‘eventually’ awarded the gold !?!?

I will watch the women’s beachball though ;)

Used to watch the ceremonies, but they're not that important anymore to me.

Yes Cancel it

Japanese government still wants olympics to go on i heard on our special news show here in Netherlands

but then again IOC has last say here, if it needs to be cancelled bc of virus, then it will be cancelled no matter what japanese government thinks

IOC Thomas Bach: Cancellation is not on IOC agenda

Most likely it'll get postponed for a few years for example to July 2022.

Olympics could be cancelled for good if not held in 2021, IOC chief Thomas Bach

Calderyon 21-05-2020 08:46 AM

It could happen.

Meaning Tokyo Olympics being cancelled, not the Olympics as a whole.

of course, and this will also leave a stain on Japan's hosting skills, IOC probably not accepting any future host bids from them for a while too

Japanese government also could've done more to slow down spread of the virus, tbh comparing asian countries how they cope with the virus, Japan is up there with China as worst affected asian countries i think

they should've looked more into South-Korea approach but if you don't have same financial resources to afford enough testkits, ICU's, ok not much they could've done

but yeah we'll see next year, i don't think anyone can say how the crisis will look like then
