On Capital Radio last week Martin Collins was speaking to a woman who works at Capital who had looked round the Big Brother house. She said that the house was about 1/3 smaller than before (giving rise to the rumours of secret rooms) and that the BB people said that they are going to have a very 'diverse' range of people (ie, one very shy & introverted who doesn't want to speak to anybody, one the opposite etc.....). I think that was all, they were supposed to have more in the 'entertainment news' but they didn't mention it.

I'd love to see someone like that in the house because they would be the complete opposite of your stereotypical Big Brother contestant.
|
Sunita maybe wasn't shy, but she certainly was introverted and unwilling to join in with the rest of the housemates.
I don't think anyone with the same personality traits this year would be happy at all in the BB House. It would be an absolute nightmare for them! |
Those were the words she said, maybe she was just using them as an example?
I couldn't see anybody with that personality being able to cope with the scrutiny & press attention...but what do I know!!!! |
I think it depends on how you interpret the word "shy".
I would like to see someone shy who doesn't come into the house all ballsy and confident like most of them but gradually increases in confidence and comes out of their shell as they are supported by the group. I would not like to see some who was shy in terms of being aloof and just basically didn't want to mix with other people at all. |
There are different definitions of the word shy.
It can mean someone who is very introverted and doesnt mix with others and keeps very much to themselves - they wouldnt last five minutes in the house. Or it can mean someone who just takes a while to get to know people and doesnt jump in at the deep end. Nothing wrong with that at all, especially as the numbers diminish they could definitely blossom. After all there are lots of people who relate to smaller groups rather than a mass of people as at the start of BB.:thumbs: |
I'd much rather see a shy person in this new series than another Johnny or Alison.
I think if Sunita had stayed BB3 I would have enjoyed last year's much more. It's such a pity that a lot of people viewed her as aloof, when all she was doing was trying to avoid making a fool of herself. |
On Oz BB3 one of the psychologists defined an introvert as someone who has a public and a private self.
They tend to not want to control the world but want to understand the world, and their real world is their inner world which is their thoughts - they get energy from themselves and not other people. (Who said watching reality TV wasn't informative?) |
That sounds very much like the Myers Brigg definition of introvert.
The Myers Brigg test involves answering various questions and then you have 4 "types" as your result. One of them is whether you are extrovert or introvert. It takes a while to understand their definitions, as they are not the same as you might think. The basic bit of it that I can remember is: Extrovert = someone who is energised by spending time with other people Introvert = someone who is energised by being in their own company Which kind of matches up with the Oz psychologist. |
But what if you spend alot of time on your own PC in cyber space, communicating with lots of other people on the internet :conf:
Is there a place to take this test ? |
The Myers Briggs test is supposed to be done with contact with a trainer, so that the results can be interpreted correctly and understood.
This page gives more information about the test: Myers Briggs explained There is also a Jung-Myers-Briggs test online which you can take. Some of the wording of the questions may seem a bit ambigous or repetitive, and it's best not to think too hard about each one. Online test I did this and it came out fairly similar to the last one I did so I think it must be reliable. |
I did this earlier and it said that I was an INTP.

It says I am

Life as an ISFJ
(Introvert, Sensor, Feeler, Judger) People of this type tend to be: cautious, gentle, and thoughtful; hesitant until they know people well then affectionate and caring; very literal and aware of the physical world; uncompromising about personal standards and easily offended; diligent and conscientious, organized and decisive. :wavey: |

It's also important to remember that each of the Myers Briggs "types" relates to a specific aspect of your personality. For example, as a "Thinker" rather than a "Feeler" this means that I am more comfortable making decisions based on facts rather than emotions. It doesn't mean that I have no feelings!
