Why should a person with social power influence others into voting their way.
Completely goes against the fundamental principals of democracy.
People should vote for who they want and that not be influenced by a celebrity's opinion.

Once again, its the poor people being told what to do by the rich people.
This is the exact reason why we have such an economic divide.

soooo truth gurl

Every election, every referrendum, everything that anybody has ever voted for, including you, me and everybody you know has voted because somebody with social power over them convinced them to do so (unless you know a few people who just go there to tick a box at random for the lols). What an odd thing to say.

People have all kinds of influences when it comes to politics. Parents, friends, teachers... celebrities. There's nothing wrong with listening to all of them, hearing other peoples points you might not have thought of, and making informed decisions  If someone takes a celebrities pov more seriously than everyone else's (including their own) then that's a problem with celebrity culture, not democracy. If people only ever listened to the politicians then it would be disastrous :worry:

Incorrect

An MP (or USA equiv) is elected, they have a consituancy, they undertake policy, they deal with people and their problems, they matter, they chose to make a difference. They deal with problems and find solutions

Pop stars/film stars/tv shows and dicks like Russell brand do one thing and one thing only

Identify problems

and that

that

is the easiest game in town

You quoted me and added an irrelevant anecdote midway through a convo I was having with a different user, just wanted to know if it was intentional or accidental.
