I'll give it to her for our wedding anniversary. It'll serve as a practical gift with a nostalgic nod to our first encounter. R.

Ronald here. It's my wife's birthday next week and I haven't the foggiest of what to get her. We're celebrating 40 years of marriage this year. Hard to think of ideas after such a time. We met on a fishing trip in Dungeness back in the 70s so I was thinking of getting her a fishing rod with her name printed on it. She likes fishing but hasn't been in over twenty years so I'm unsure if she would like it.

Any one on the forum have any other ideas? She also likes pottery, musicals and antiques.

Any ideas would be appreciated. R.

I haven't enquired how much you have got to spend, but if money isn't too much of a problem and she likes musicals, how about tickets for a show in London or one of the provinces if London is too far to go and finish off with a night in a nice hotel. Don't go for the fishing rod, unless you know she would like to take up fishing again.

Willing to part with up to £50 for a gift for her.

R.

I should have read this before I started going on about tickets for musicals etc.,50 quid is not enough for that. Okay how about a dvd of a musical that she hasn't got, a box of good chocs and a bottle of wine and use the rest on flowers.
But forget the fishing rod, engraved with her name or not.

Because of this, I tend to favour trips and such rather than gifts. Spa breaks, short holidays etc. You might be able to get a spa break for 50 quid tbh...I'm going with my mother on Monday and it was only 40pp including treatments, nighttime meal, breakfast and an overnight stay and a bottle of prosecco (never tried the stuff before but I hear its nice  )

But of course not all women are into spa stuff and you would really have to go with her too as its a present...and a lot of men hate spas and anything 'girly'.

That's good value Vicky.

What about a star ronaldrodgers, you can get a star named after her with the documents of authentication with it and a map of where it is,I had one off my husband a couple of years back,it's just a thought and something a bit different.:wavey:

I bought this for ex-mrs lt when we were first married and named it in her maiden name as she was about to lose it. The children were always fascinated by it.
