WRONG!!

I thought it was really good, and unlike your usual generic apocalyptic/virus outbreak-type movies. IMO it's the only one of it's kind that comes close to rivaling 28 Days Later. So yeah, I would give this a watch if I were you, Jake.

Spoiler:

When the one guy is about to get killed outside the house but he uses his keys to turn on his car and the flash makes the figure disappear. :joker:

Also, I think The Blair Witch Project is soooo overrated (I know it gets plenty of hate too though). I get that you kinda have to leave it to imagination and stuff like that but the entire movie is filled with "what was that?!" moments and shaky camera angles. It's just an unscary travel through the woods for way too much of the film. The ending was fine but dragged on and predictable. Makes me hesitant to watch Blair Witch but I might give that a shot eventually.

Blair Witch is far more "obvious" in its technique so you might prefer it

Hush (2016)

After Don't Breathe, the bar for home invasion films was set high. Hush was released on Netflix to rave reviews, so it was time to see if it was a good as I'd been hearing (lol).

In a twist on traditional films in this particular genre, a woman who has been deaf from the age of 13 gets a shock when a mysterious man wearing a plain (but effective all the same) mask appears at her window. As you can guess, terror ensues for the next hour and a half, with enough blood and jumps to shake a stick at; but, the film uses the sense of sound to really create terror and heck, does it work. Going from the main characters "world" of lack of hearing to the one we live in, noise suddenly becomes something to fear. The effect this has on the viewer has to be credited; the more tense parts of the film usually consists of vulnerability and the dread of not knowing what we're going to hear next. It also benefits from having a lead who you want to champion and do well, something "Don't Breathe" perhaps lacked. Either way, this is a film you need to see.

Get Out (2017)

I was apprehensive sitting down to view 'Get Out' this evening, especially with my 'horror movie hating' mother also watching. This film had a lot to live up to with its hype and it also had the job of converting a complete horror-phobe. It done both (perfectly).

This review is going to be short and tight lipped because any kind of real detail could give big parts of the film away, but trust me when I say this: you will not find a better piece of satirical cinematography from the past three or so years (and possibly even further back). The thoughts it leaves you with are both frightening and enlightening, and it's themes may seem deeply rooted but are so clear by the end. It doesn't matter even if you don't enjoy horror because you will enjoy this.

People claim it to be a horror-comedy but it didn't really have all that many comedic moments at all

Jake. 23-04-2017 09:08 PM

Satirical-Horror is what I'd class it as

Babayaro. 23-04-2017 11:08 PM

Really strong film :clap1:

The last 15 mins or so was so perfectly violent/gory :flutter:
