There's no confirmed date yet, but we do know the normal start date has been pushed back.

Over the last nine years, the show has tended to start in April, about two weeks in.

But thanks to The Voice moving to ITV, this year's BGT has been pushed back to a May start date.

Denver 12-03-2017 02:42 PM

The ends 1st april so they will air it the week later

Will. 12-03-2017 02:43 PM

It's been confirmed to air in May though.

OK magazine is not a reliable source though.

There is no need to air it in May and have nothing to air for 3-4 weekends of April

It was reported everywhere like a month ago.

Pluse The Voice Kids starts after BGT so they need to fit that in before the X Factor

RichardG 12-03-2017 02:46 PM

they're airing a kids version of the voice?

is anyone going to watch that

Yes they had to as part of the deal and they plan to air it saturday nights after BGT

Brother Leon 12-03-2017 03:20 PM

Terrible idea. Doesn't give the contestants enough time to let people know them properly or to build any type of fanbase. The show is generally a mess now though.

Babayaro. 12-03-2017 03:32 PM

As much as I love the 10 weeks of live shows, I can understand why they would want to do this. The format has been so stale over the last few years, and last year's ratings were really poor. This sounds interesting, and could work.

Firewire 12-03-2017 03:46 PM

BGT starts 15th April, it's always the week after SNT finishes

Natalie. 12-03-2017 06:02 PM

I'd hate that tbh

Marsh. 12-03-2017 06:37 PM

But the BGT week of live shows whittles like 50 contestants down to 10 then the winner at the weekend.

The X Factor final week wouldn't have eliminations throughout the week would it? So what would be the point?

No I haven't watched a series since 2013, but I have been watching the knockouts just cos it's the only stage I like. The decisions have been mainly crap though.

Oh yeah same, I haven't watched since 2013/14. There's been lots of news about who got though this year, so I thought something must have been up in terms of the decisions.

I think this would actually kill the show off it works well on bgt because it's a variety show so you get something different every night but with X factor people aren't going to tune in 5 days in a row to watch singing every night

He left because of what?

Because of cuts to the live shows

He said they're his favourite part

I bet they are. For his horrific dancing and being cheesy. SACK IT. :fist:

Rylan said on This Morning that the length of the series/live shows might have changed

I wouldn't mind them airing the auditions all in one week though tbh

I think that The X Factor live shows should always be between 7 to 10 live shows as it just suits the show more.

BGT's format works as it is, but leave The X Factor alone on that front, the main thing that needs to be fixed for TXF is more interesting winners, I mean series 10-13 have had some of the dullest winners in their lineups take the crown, that's a ratings killer.
