To be fair they do travel a lot and spend a lot of time on their feet, more than we'd expect of most over 90s. The ribbon cutting often involves meeting, talking to people, speeches. It's a lot for someone of that age. I'm not a monarchist but I can sympathise that they are expected to gad about and stand a lot for their respective ages.

Fantastic couple and as for ribbon cutting, making small talk is the most tiring thing ever, never mind the effort of getting out of bed at 91 and 96, Philip has 24 further engagements before he hangs up his hat, the upcoming Royals aren't a patch on these two.

Coincidentally just before CBB :fan:

I imagine just trying to not to die in his sleep takes up most of his day. :hehe:

However, they 'do not' have to do it,they could give it up and not bother.
I would hate the more organised schedule they get but I am sure if the Monarch fancied a break day,it would be made so.

If an ordinary individual gets a bad cough or cold, they are expected to get on with things and work too,a Royal would get a Doctors visit and a fair fuss made.

Also the Queen could easily, and is doing, delegate duties to others,as could Prince Philip too.
I think they actually love the status and life they have which is why they eagerly hold onto it.

For me however one of the best things about the present make up of the UK,is the Monarchy it has.

A cough and a cold at their advanced age can be pretty serious and I'm sure a doctor would visit any person if that age if requested.

With their engagements planned in as advance as they are the queen can hardly wake up and think she'll have a break day today...

I'm in no way a royalist in any shape or form but think they carry out their duties amazingly for their years.

Indeed and not too many "ordinary individuals" are turning up to work even if it is just once a month at 96

Indeed. The likes of them are a dying breed.
