Yes, there is.

Your lack of awareness isn't evidence of a lack of racism.

Saying someone looks like something is not racist

That's not what's happened here. Go back and look again.

Of course not, your title is 'racially abused' but I don't see how this is abuse? He stated who the scarecrow reminded him of, that's it.

So he didn't deliberately create it as a racist stereotype?

I suppose the Olympics clothes and flag were a coincidence?

You find it acceptable to essentially make a giant "golliwog"?

Trust me I know what racial abuse is I've spent most of my childhood being told every last story of what it's like for a Jamaican to come to England in the 50s and I can tell you know what you see in this thread is not racial motivated it's a bad tasted joke at most

Making a giant golliwog isn't racially motivated? Are you being ironic?

But if it were to be reversed and it was a white scarecrow dressed in Olympic clothing and he said "it looks like Rebecca Adlington" then what would be the harm in that? It can be offensive if the scarecrow is ugly and she doesn't want to be compared to an ugly scarecrow but just because it's a black scarecrow she has exclusive rights to take it as racially offensive?

Racial offense should be based on intent and not perception because that's when it gets really fuqed up.

It is a bad tasted joke racial abuse is when you make deliberate slurs to hurt someone.

He made it for attention not to cause offence

LukeB 14-05-2017 11:58 PM

The ignorance in this thread :bored:

That makes it completely ok and not at all racist then.

The racism card is overused in today's society try being black in the 50s and 60s then you will understand.

The more people say everything is racist the more irreverent it is.

Rasicm is the intent to offend with racial slurs

How is it a gollywog? Does this look like a real reflection of a white person to you?

So now scarecrows have to be identical looking to humans or they're seen as mocking a race?

But he hasn't spotted a funny looking scarecrow and thought it resembled someone.

He's made a golliwog and deliberately dressed it up in that clothing/flag to give it a link to a black celebrity. I'm not explaining it any further as it shouldn't need to be.

Unless you're genuinely completely oblivious?

It's just not in any shape of form racist.

It is clear he wants attention and everyone is giving it him if he was ignored he would disappear

One of the commenters in the damn Facebook post tells him that it will offend by asking him 'are you sure this is politically correct?'
It's racist. The person mentioned in it also thought it was racist.
Its really not that hard people.

Most black people would laugh it off as attention seeking stunt.

You will never know what true racism is until you have dealt with it personally

T* 15-05-2017 12:05 AM

Trying to defend him and excuse his actions is pointless anyway because it's clear what his intentions were, did you see his damn tweet :umm2:
