ethanjames 20-06-2017 04:57 PM

Oh I don't think that Ellie's the nastiest person in there, but she just really irritates me, the way she talks in particular does my head in.

Her smile is actually quite weird aswell, it comes off as insincere to me.

She has made the mistake of falling for a guy in there and been labeled as a 'showmancer', though personally I don't doubt this is a pretty common thing for her and just part of her.

But, that's a combination that'll get her nothing but derision from a lot here.

Being a showmancer does deserve derision imo, especially when it's not funny, or when it's done from the first couple of days of entering the house.

That's why in no particular order one of Ellie, Lotan, Rebecca, or Kieran should leave the first chance that the public get, but instead have weirdly let Rebecca go through twice, and she will go through again all because of Joe's stupid behaviour.

But if people want a Love Island spin-off then go for it.

She would be OK without Lotan but that whole storyline (which I don't think anyone cares about despite C5 trying to shove it down our throats) is making her look desperate and tragic

I also think she's trying to play up the "I'm a fun loving, normal, Northern lass" thing

But, the fact is that most hardcore BB fans see showmance even when it isn't there, at the first whiff of one human being attracted to another human. They are so paranoid about it that they condemn it as such out of hand.

It doesn't seem to register that anyone could have an instant attraction and genuinely get starry eyed over another HM.

Ellie just strikes me as one of those types. She probably falls deeply in love three times a year. I don't think it's malicious or nasty. I think she just leads with emotions and gets invested super fast. I have known people like that in RL, crashing from one new love (or, rather, infatuation) to the next.

I get the derision for showmances, they are cynical and manipulative, but it's equally cynical to automatically see every HM that falls for another HM as one.

'Funny' is subjective. I do find Ellie funny. I think she is the only one in the house since Arthur left that has been.

But, all that aside, if some people are going to stop at the 'showmance' judgment and hate on her because of that one perceived element, then I do find that a bit sad.

She's getting worse every night

Cherie 20-06-2017 06:22 PM

I think she genuinely likes him, you can't fake that when you are as pissed as she was

I do as well. She's just the type that falls hard and fast.

Her awkwardness and emotion came across as very genuine when she was apologising to Lotan as well.

BBDodge 20-06-2017 06:51 PM

Are she and Raph the only ones not to have had an argument now?

Cal. 20-06-2017 06:53 PM

She does my head in!

I'm not talking about Ellie as an individual being funny or unfunny, I'm on about the tedious showmance.

And if what you're saying about Ellie is true (which no offense I doubt that this is the case with her) it's more lust than love.

In fact I'm surprised we don't see more lustful behaviour on BB with them trapped in the house 24/7, it's the "we're pretending to be in a Romeo & Juliet love story" that I find deeply annoying.

Charlotte hasn't programmed herself to yet either.

Again, I think the showmance thing is just your perception of her behaviour. I don't think she sees it as that at all. but, i explained all that that above, I guess.

I would say it started off with lust, yep, then moved swiftly to infatuation (a word I used in my post). Is it 'love'? Probably not, but differently people use the word in different ways anyhow, I guess. either way, she has clearly genuinely fallen for him. People do the same thing on holidays etc all the time.

I do believe her obsession with him is real though and not a cynical attempt to manipulate the public.

I think the showmance thing is a knee jerk reaction these days. I think hardcore fans are just paranoid about it and see it in everything without taking the actual HM and their character into account.

I think so, though the difference between them is that she doesn't fence sit and slink about in the background avoiding risk.
