Raph seems pretty normal to me? He's not like the textbook camp gays we've seen cast in previous series. He's probably the most normal gay person we've seen on this show for god knows how long.

Big Brother could really do with an entire cast that is diverse. They started well with this series but now most of the house compromises of young white people from former reality TV shows.

Hughie and Sam were pretty normal?

Wizard. 23-06-2017 06:38 PM

On a serious note to your topic, I don't feel let down and wouldn't feel let down if they cast NO LGBTQ people because I have bigger things to worry about other than LGBT representation HOWEVER seeing as it is meant to be The UK of Big Brother I would have liked to have seen more representation of everyone I mean why were there no Scottish people :fist:

True but they do ask questions like "how would you deal with living with attractive girls in such a confined space" so I was just like ....erm well I'm gay so...lol

Oh put your make up brush down and stop being so pollitically correct. You know what I mean with BB they tend to only cast 1 or 2 gay people and they are almost allways the stereotypical, camp, supposedly funny to watch person to entertain the nation for a few weeks....sorry but I find that far more offensive.

Like me and you are polar opposites gay people arnt all about wearing make up and making bitchy comments. You have to agree we need a more diverse casting with the LGBTQ a community and the straight community tbh.

Ratings show this.

The show used to be a champion of diversity, this year is so homogenized. Even moreso than BB12. Really bizarre casting choices here, they're trying to compete with Love Island by replicating it - that will never work. Love Island is Love Island. Let Big Brother be Big Brother.

Yes but out of 18 housemates he's the only gay person in there.....that's my point.

T* 23-06-2017 06:49 PM

The show is so heteronormative nowadays that it's problematic
Saying that a lot of British reality tv is -looks at LI-

Clearly your answer should be 'I would shag them right infront of everyone else on the kitchen table' or something

Guaranteed acceptance :D

Leave Kweenelle out of this

Vicky. 23-06-2017 07:02 PM

Actually that would be great. Your whole VT could be about how you are there to shag as many girls as possible and that. The when meeting Ema you could just say 'oh btw, that VT was fake. I am actually gay' and strut off

Sashay away? Haha yeah sounds good....better than any twist BB producers could come up with.

Crimson Dynamo 23-06-2017 07:06 PM

should we not have like 9 series all straight and one series with gay hms?

i think that would be more like reallife

sampvt 23-06-2017 07:09 PM

Personally I have never seen a gay guy in there that acts normal. Im not dragging gays, its just that every time we get a gay guy in there, they are weirdos and do not represent the LGBTV community. Raph is about as normal as it gets and he is as weird as fook as well, so where do they go. They either get camp as fook, or weird as fook. The producers wont cast a regular sane or normal acting gay guy for fear of ruining the show. They think all gays need tobe like Rylan or the trolly dollie from Ireland whos name escapes me.

Interesting concept I would like a 50/50 house 8 straight people and 8 LGBTQ people. Would be good to see the interaction and I would actually like to see people in there with negative views on gay people and vice versa make it a proper social experiment.

There are outrageous gay characters obviously but there are also regular gay guys like myself who work 9 to 5 jobs as builders and carpenters and I would far prefer watching them than some screaming queen.

I want a mix and to be honest if a guy is going to lay into another guy for being camp i dont want to watch that. Being part of the community you need to band together not pick at people for genetic things that are out of their control. Sadly for you most gay men are camp, genetics and all. Not cool to call people queens.
