and with the ratings as dire as they are there's no way that it will be continued, it's over
|
Embrace the superior BBUSA format but still keep daily HL shows ffs! They literally have nothing to lose at this point.
|
I think this was the nail in the coffin.
Both cbb and the civilian series did poorly after this. |
Back when the live feed was on, BB would always be a word-of-mouth thing, I recall students would watch in the refectory or between classes.
It was addictive because you actually got to know the housemates and wanted to support a favourite. |
It's sad tbh, especially in the case of CBB when you think it was averaging over 3 million in 2014/15. Still, I guess it had to end at some point
|
Good. I'm glad to hear they're putting it out of its misery instead of beating the same dead horse over and over again instead of trying to revitalise the show in anyway to get it how it used to be rather than destroying its legacy.

It has potential tbh, if they rest it for a bit and then do the show properly then there could be success. |
The ratings have dropped to between 600,000 - 800,000. Thats pretty darn bad. They should first try moving the series to winter where there is basically no reality tv on. Why any network would be silly enough to air a show alongside Love Island is just beyond me. They also need to stop putting reality stars/ z-lister/ people with agents into the civilian series and go back to channel 4's format of holding auditions in centres around the uk. They need to axe the production team and bring new people in then go back and look at big brother 1 -16 and see what worked and what didn't. Channel 5 own 3 channels (maybe more) have one of those channels constantly showing live feed. Then the media can keep on top of the story. Bring some of the classic stuff back like stricter rules. I have a feeling they will axe it and the only network i think that would be interested would be itv and they will just ruin it by turning it into love island 2.0.
|
I think a break of 10 years or so would do it good. Then bring back the original format as a classic.

I thought the end was nigh when C5 kept moving it back in the schedules. Yes, the content was foul at times but you don't move the times when a programme is performing well.
This series even the days have been swopped, it does not bode well for the future. |

I honestly don't get where people are coming from with the live feed, I never could watch more than 5 minutes of it will all the birds singing and conversations interrupted. Drove me mad, you can't see what's going on anyway because they turn off the sound?
|
It is sad though. Ive watched since big brother 1 way back when i was 11 all the way to now when im 28. Grew up with it so its a shame.

ITV2 bosses will be high-fiving themselves.
They took on BB and won with an inferior product. A shame they didn't pick up BB and do something better with it than C5 are doing. |
good
now come thru online BB |
When would it end though? If it's after the current contact, is that after BB19? Or after CBB21? Or even after CBB22 in January 2019 seeing as the contract started in summer...

It comes as no surprise.
I've been saying it a lot that heads should roll in C5's HQ. This is bad job, zero professionalism. Bad casting, bad editing, bad PR, bad online presence, bad production, bad scheduling, no creativity, overkill of CBB twice a year, bad relations with the audience. Pure disgrace. I can't believe Endemol has let C5 get away with it, absolutely killing the format and making it unattractive for the foreseen future. These people's job is doing TV, and it's embarrassing that this is their best. Let BB rest for 5 years and give it to someone who bothers reviving it properly, with an online life feed, which is the only acceptable future for BB (and funnily enough, was also its past). |
It would be sad to see it go although it's going no where on C5 so I would be glad to see it axed.
As for it's future beyond that, it seems dead in the water. Maybe it will be picked up in 5 years or so by a TV channel. I wonder how well it would perform on Netflix or Amazon, you could have two channels/shows, one 24/7 live feed, and the other highlights shows. HL shows could be released at 9pm in the evenings to keep things consistent (so forums like this can pretty much have discussions as usual). Not sure if highlights each night would work on an online platform, maybe go down the route of 3 or 4 extended shows each week. They could even get the show going on other countries Amazon/Netflix accounts too, to further the fan base. Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk |

Live feed is what made BB unique. BB spawned a whole load of rip off reality shows and in recent history it's ironic that BB is trying to emulate those rip offs......very badly may I add. I wish ITV2 would just pick it up and air CBB on the main channel it could actually work. |
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Channel 4 do become interested again bc right now they're in the middle of what seems to be a midlife crisis.
They've got no real flagship show and are trying to change that by reviving shows like The Crystal Maze and attempting to do stuff like Host the Week (and flopping) I wouldn't say a C4 revival is off the cards, the 20th anniversary is in 3 years and they could restore it to how it used to be |

move to new network and find a new casting director. Cast people with 0 agents and who hasn't been on any other tv shows
