Love Island pulls in 2.1 Million on average, it doesn't even compare imo.

That was C4 though things back then were different to now, we didn't have shows like towie/gs etc but the BB viewers are all ages. Big Brother is targeting the young but its not working hence they viewers are going. Love Island is dominating because it's the new craze which started last year (ratings got better last year)

And BB has the secret weapon of being able to appeal to older viewers, something that I think will end up killing Love Island when the viewers start getting older, it's a fad that will die very quickly.

I do agree that Love Island will probably peak next season and start declining

I agree, i watched love island the other week to see what all the fuss is about and its aweful, the concept of the show is shallow and just silly in general. People will soon get tired of it. Its thrown in your face so much i mean they even have a clothing range in primark.

Because another thing that's harming BB on Ch5 is it's a weird mesh of the old BBUK/BBUSA/TOWIE/Love Island/Politics can creep in quite horribly aswell.

Basically BBUK needs to pick a side and stick with it if it wants to save itself, imo the public would take to the old school vibe I think as it will standout to the other Reality Shows at the moment.

Maybe I'm older in mind than physically as I honestly don't get the fuss over Love Island, it's just a show dedicated to Showmances.:joker:

Its tacky, everything about it from the text messages (basically love islands version of big brother) telling them what to do to the people on the show itself. It makes me cringe. Such bad tv especially when you think of the kind of example its setting for the younger generation (now i sound like an old man or something lol its true tho, no morals)

The fans will end up moaning about the cast always being the same like we are here regarding big brother lol there are only so many times you can put the same types of people together in house. We all know that from experience watching big b. It will be the same for the love island fans eventually.

I can just only imagine what it's like.

I'd like to think that Love Island won't push anything too extreme on the younger generation as it's main purpose is to entertain, not push an agenda.

I think it makes younger people think they need to look and act like these people. You could say the same about big b tho. If you look at the housemates they select over the years they have got faker and faker. Another reason why people are tuning out me thinks.

BB just needs to be careful on who they cast I think and it would do fine.

Stop adding housemates that been on tv and has agents.

They wheel out the same bring tasks on IAC every year and it still gets huge ratings

I think people decided not to watch after launch. Many people would have been put off by there being so many reality tv people, especially after Kayleigh was like "it's an EOTB reunion!" and Lotan and Tom were talking and saying they didn't apply.

Jake. 12-07-2017 07:23 AM

It's just fatigue

It's been on air for 18 years are currently we have 3 series per year, it was only a matter of time

Alf 12-07-2017 07:30 AM

Produced by and starring sheep.

bots 12-07-2017 08:18 AM

let's not beat about the bush, the program as it stands now is a complete load of ****. It only retains its current level of viewership from past loyalty to the program. If this were a fresh show this year, no-one would be watching. It has nothing of substance or entertainment to offer.

Paula D 12-07-2017 08:34 AM

The biggest reason the show is going down the pan imo is the GBP. They consistently vote out the interesting characters (Sukvinder, Mandy) in favour of reality star wannabes.

BB has no control over that. I don't know how it's going to change though because it's a vicious cycle. They have to give the public what they want and the public seems to want these trashy characters.

1. Big Brother do not know their viewing audience, they have a mixture of different generations and not just one. They have got loads of people from EOTB and weekender this season which is what the young generation would watch not the older generation so it's quite off putting for them. Love Island knows their target audience which is completely different to big brothers audience.

I agree, I think the producers are misunderstanding their audience. There was a BBC article before this series asking who still watches BB and it said how most of the viewers are older whereas a show like Love Island is watched pretty much exclusively by the 18-30 demographic. This group isn't actually that interested in BB though and they need to stop thinking that this is where all their viewers are.

Yep and they need to stop trying to change it into shows like that or the TOWIE type of shows as well. People who watch those shows don't need to watch BB when they can just watch one of those and if I wanted to watch a show like that I would but I don't because I don't like them

Is LI scripted like TOWIE? I never can quite figure it out?
