But I know how self-conscious having red hair can make people, my younger brother has been dying his hair dark brown since he was thirteen!

I think Raph was feeling a bit self conscious about the colour of his hair. It was a bit bizarre, but him and Hannah are close friends and I'm sure she won't hold it against him.
