kelly is fab from what I've seen of her so far (she's been a guest for a few episodes)

Daniel-X 05-08-2017 02:44 PM

Nooooo @ Sheila leaving

Vicky. 05-08-2017 02:51 PM

I loved this show so much...started going downhill IMO when the focus left the Gallagers and went onto the McGuires

Jordan. 05-08-2017 02:54 PM

The early Kelly episodes with her and Veronica dragging each other are my faves <3

Jordan. 05-08-2017 02:59 PM

Might re-watch the first three series, I'm kinda in the mood for it after this thread tbh <3

One of the rare British shows where the Americans have recreated it to be just as good if not better. The US one is a must watch if you ever get the chance too

Denver 05-08-2017 04:05 PM

I find te American one getting better each series where as the UK one got worse

I'm only halfway through S4, so it'll be a wonder if I manage to even finish ours before summer is over  but yes Drew I've heard fantastic things about it so I'll definitley give it a watch at some point (probably next year) and post my thoughts

Good stuff, S1-5 are on Netflix if you do ever get round to it

Jake. 05-08-2017 05:52 PM

^ I'm desperate for S6, this wait is ridiculous

Denver 05-08-2017 06:09 PM

They don't have the rights to S6 & 7 so its not looking likely they'll be on netflix :hmph:

Series 2 Episode 4 is still one of the best hours of British TV ever.

Loved this and despite the loss of most of the Gallaghers I do think the Maguires injected new life into it and kept it going a couple more years, but it lost it's way around series 6/7. They really needed to revamp it again in a way similar to season 4 by bringing in a new family but they just missed the chance and just bought in a few individual characters people didn't really care about. The trouble was the last couple of series probably focused on Frank too much as the series was always at it's best when it focused on other characters.

Absolutely agree with Shameless USA too - superb show in it's own right and amazing that the one show I thought would never translate to the US got it so right, and quite interesting to see it go in a different direction due to it not losing most it's case early on. Just wish Netflix would pick up the latter series - was bad enough More4 dropped it but now Netflix have picked up one series surely no reason not to pick up the rest and actually get up to date.

I'm abiut halfway through S5 now (next episode is episode ten) and have got to say the decline in quality is very noticeable. The first few episodes of S5 were actually decent but the last three or four I've watched have been very poor, too much focus on Frank and Monica this series.

Daniel-X 14-08-2017 04:07 PM

The Maguires have been the supporting storyline every episode nearly too despite their storylines being more interesting.

Cal. 14-08-2017 05:49 PM

Are you still gobbing off about this show?!

Josy 14-08-2017 06:06 PM

Aw I miss this

I LOVE Maxine

Braden 16-08-2017 10:19 PM

Maxine was great, I remember really enjoying one of the episodes that centred around her—all I remember is that she stole from a shop, though? :p
