Why wouldn't it?

My husbands cousin was born in England his parents are both English but his grandparents are Irish and he considers himself Irish because of that, he's just got himself an Irish passport and supports the Irish teams etc and that's perfectly fine imo

It isnt a problem unless said facts are used for financial or personal gain. Hannah and Debs are borderline pragmatic with their views that bounce in and out of the macabre with racist undertones.

You really think they're just pretending to be proud of their heritage to win BB and normally they're not? I disagree with that Sam.

chuff me dizzy 25-07-2017 10:29 AM

If they are so proud of their heritage why do they not wear their hair in the afro they were born with ? why do they choose to hide the afro under a straight (cheap) wig ..They can't be THAT proud of their roots

Niamh......I doubt even this forum would agree with you on this. If they are hamming the nigerian act up for no reason, Ill dance nude at your next birthday party.

Sadly in Yorkshire the congas they do here dont involve foot stomping, which incidentally isnt even Nigerian, its roots lie in the Maasai warriors culture that come from Tanzania and Kenya.

Nigerian culture dances involve a lot of gyrations. These dances are portrayed in a bid to attract suitors, these traditional dances involves rhythmic movements of the chest and waist, which are predominantly performed by maidens who had come of age and were set to marry. They are a key aspect of the Igbo culture and are used to foster abstinence from sexual activities before marriage. I learned this from my time in Africa many years ago where we lived for 4 years.

You've never seen a group of people dancing and yelling?

I don't see the point that you're trying to make. You're suggesting that, because they're not sporting what they were "born with", they're not proud of their culture? So, what then, because I wear makeup, does that mean I'm not proud to be a woman, by your logic?

Answer: No, it doesn't. That would be ridiculous.

I was replying to a post in which you mentioned both me and yourself.

And getting tired of this old retreat to the rules when you don't like someone's opinion. It's getting so old.

You actually just named one particular type of Nigerian dance, that isn't the only one, a quick google search reveals

In a bid to attract suitors, this dance which involves rhythmic movements of the chest and waist, was performed by maidens who had come of age and were set to marry. It was a key aspect of the Igbo culture and was used to foster abstinence from sexual activities before marriage.

I really don't agree with this racist notion that you can't have different cultures in the UK.

The UK is a multicultural society, get over it. If you want to live the Nigerian Culture then you should without being looked down upon.

Multiculturalism is what makes Britain great.
