Last years first highlights episode dropped 800k from launch (averaged 1.5m) so if this can drop less and still get 1.5m tonight then that's good. Would be a similar pattern to BB17 launching with the lowest ever but then beating it on day 2 anyway

Samm 02-08-2017 09:19 AM

a mess at BB14 getting a higher launch

... And BB12/13/15

I think 16 averaged 1.8

lewis111 02-08-2017 09:32 AM

It is 500k less than last year's launch I think so it really NEEDS to hold up and not see a drop

oh wow, so weird

Viewers drop Year on year. I think that figure and share is brilliant.

supertv247 02-08-2017 10:26 AM

The fact this series could be on course to average the same as BB 12, 13, 15 & 17 is obviously bad for CBB but could be good for the civilian version, showing that the celebrities version isn't THAT superior anymore and that they definitely shouldn't axe the civilian one

But it might also make them think that the format has run its course so it should be axed, celebrity and civilian. :bawling:

Today's retention should be key to figuring out how the rest of the series will rate.

Rob! 02-08-2017 10:36 AM

That's 400k more than I was expecting. I think all things considered that's pretty good. The reaction seems to have been pretty positive to the launch so we'll see what it can retain but I don't think it should be panic stations just yet.

Yeah, thats true...
Hopefully they look at it and realise a badly executed series of bbuk has harmed CBB which is now on the same ratings level as regular BB was just last year. Therefore to fix it, it will be bbuk they should look at to fix as if that gets back up to this level, CBB will also rise. They need eachother and the potential is there

Mrmattybeck 02-08-2017 12:18 PM

Surely c5 must act next year with it been the final year in the contract I think c5 would be irrelevant again without bb and cbb

Hopefully they have the same mindset as you, just hope they don’t compare it to other CBB’s and saying it’s lower so they don’t want it

Good ratings for summer cbb.

*mazedsalv** 02-08-2017 12:45 PM

I mean it's sad it's lowest ever but it came after a flop civilian.

It was DOUBLE the final of BB18.

Question now is retention. The last summer series lost a huge 850k in the 2nd day.

CBB14 first HL- 1.75m
CBB16- 1.55m
CBB18- 1.58m

If it could hold above 1.6m would be brilliant but it will be 1.4m I think.

Rob! 02-08-2017 12:55 PM

I don't think anyone expected it be anything but the lowest ever but I still think that's fairly decent.

Jodie. 02-08-2017 01:03 PM

I know it doesn’t usually happen with BB but since it happened this summer the ratings could grow and grow ala Love Island

Jake. 03-08-2017 09:30 AM

Inc +1
Celebrity Big Brother: 1.61m (8.4%)

Good retention. That makes it higher than the first proper episode of the last 2 years.

Keep it up BB.

My mum's even watching it for the first time since BB7.

And she's just gone from calling C5 BB 'a bag of reality TV horse ****'

supertv247 03-08-2017 09:39 AM

This is the best viewer retention CBB has ever had on C5. Last summer dropped 850k over night. This is a brilliant start!

Greg! 03-08-2017 09:46 AM

Iconic :clap1:

Cal. 03-08-2017 09:53 AM

Amazing retention.

Mrmattybeck 03-08-2017 10:09 AM

A great start and a brilliant retention [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122]

The fact it was higher than CBB16 and CBB18 first hl show deserves applause

Gstar 03-08-2017 10:13 AM

Channel 5s emancipation of mimi era?

Greg! 03-08-2017 10:20 AM

Hopefully it can keep those figures, last nights show was quite good for the first highlights
