Well, you know what's coming now... :hehe: switch to the US format (potentially with some tweaks), up the prize fund to £250k and make people auditioning aware that it will not be a summer holiday but a gameshow, then make half the cast people who want the money at any cost and the other half people like Jayne, Natalie Rowe, Kim Woodburn (emotional messes in other words), cut the cringey graphics and Marcus-screaming intros and tone the whole show down, make Emma have a more serious role, actually promote the God damn programme as if it's something ~new~ and ~exciting~ and let's see what happens. There is nothing to lose at this point

We lose big characters (a peculiar argument given your favourites...) with the current format :shrug: at least if they leave under US rules it's their own fault and not the viewers

I do agree in a way but then you get the cliques being more successful and some outcast type housemates go

I low-key want C5 to implement the US format just so I could spend the whole summer cackling at how they butcher it even more than Grodner butchers BBUS.

I can already picture the Second House being used as the Jury House, that's literally something C5 would do. :joker:

Again though, you can make the argument that that's the fault of those housemates' social games not being good enough to bond with a big clique/alliance :laugh: and BBUK is not immune from seeing cliques be successful

The US format isn't perfect but it's better than what we've got, and all the talk now is of 'refreshing the show' and something has to give. Back to basics isn't going to cut in IMO and so the choice is a more Love Island/EOTB type programme with young casts and a focus on showmances or a whole new approach to the show and the game, I know what I'd prefer

NO at the US format. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

I have for years been and continue to be a proponent of VTS but unfortunately the rot in BBUK goes a lot deeper than that. The tasks are a laughing stock, the twists are ill-advised and created on a whim which is beyond unprofessional, the format is inconsistent and actually counter-productive, the show is repetitive and stale, and so on and so forth. Something radical needs to change. Do I think a US format version of BBUK would be a success? Probably not. But at this point there is nothing to lose because the show is on the brink of the axe, so it's worth a trial.

There would be more controversy and outrage if it was US format because what people like is that BBUK has a different format so doing the same as the rest won't help it

Channel 5 got big brother wrong right from the start. Bake Off moving to channel 4 has really highlighted this. Okay they've got new judges and presenters, but the format, editing and feel of the show is exactly the same as ever. When BB moved to channel 5, the tone was completely different, the editing was trash and the live feed, the most unique and exciting part of the show, was gone. 5 million people watched the CBB8 launch and then at least 3 million of them never tuned in again because C5 completely ruined the feel of the show. We can only imagine what BB would be like now if it launched with the same look and feel and format as it had on channel 4.

So basically imo the only realistic way of "creativity renewing" it or "making it more relevant" is to go back to the original format, improve the tasks and editing, and BRING BACK LIVE FEED. That's literally all the fans, past and present, have been asking for for years. It's not that hard!

Obvious reasons aside, the BBUS format wouldn't work because the sort of people they recruit for BBUK nowadays are the GS/EOTB gutter trash that expect to be famous without doing **** all apart from sitting around, getting drunk and talking about sex all day. I doubt any of them would be willing to compete hard in order to try and survive, so it would be pretty flat from a gameplay/strategic standpoint. And not to mention, have you seen the ****ing tasks we get on C5? Like, one thing I'll praise BBUS for are their amazing comps, but our producers are so uncreative that the HOH comps will just consist of which HM is willing to eat a fermented egg or be gunged or s/t, it would be a damn mess.

You can still incorporate the public vote into a tweaked US format and I would be happy to take the compromise.

The HoH noms three people, a VTS saves one nominee post-Veto, and the house vote to evict one of the remaining two. Give the UK a jury vote and that's the viewers included.

The viewership is going down regardless, the choice is either Ben Frow's likely vision of a Love Island-inspired Big Brother with all the wrong elements borrowed (instead of the multiple brilliant ones) or a radical format change. I know people on this forum favour a 'back to basics' series but I'm not convinced that's going to work either. I will always agree that live feed is an absolute must (in fact with the US format it's even more essential) but the civilian show is tired in its current state and I don't think a few minor tweaks like 'a more normal cast' and 'less messy twists' is going to cut it. The show is on its last legs, the only thing to do is completely change the look and feel of the entire thing.

The show has been on for 17 years.
They need to make the show new and refreshing.
Changing the format after 17 years won't do it any favours because it has always been like that with nominations and a public vote. Getting rid of that will change the show too much and will dampen the legacy. They need to bring back live feed, better tasks, normal people, more advertising and no contrived drama such as showing noms and too much alcohol.

I KNOW a really good mix of BBUS & BBUK

Scrap noms, every week the whole house is up
VTS until there are 3 left
Then HM’s evict x

BE AWARE that they would cast mostly gameplayers with a few nice people x

Those things would have to change too though, especially the tasks. There's definitely still value in casting emotional housemates because emotive gameplay has very entertaining results but you'd have to stress to people throughout the audition process that the show is no longer about sitting around the house for 8 weeks doing absolutely **** all as if it's some summer holiday with parties every night. There's a larger prize fund and that's what you're there for.

I mean don't get me wrong I'm under no illusion that it would be any better produced, until they replace this entire production team with people who are actually competent and not BTEC Media students then nothing will change regardless of the format. This is just what I'd like to see happen.

I will say this though, it doesn't matter what they do going forward - if the show isn't promoted (like it wasn't at all for BB18), it's gonna flop. That's the most important thing of all. If they don't throw a load of promotion at it like ITV did with Love Island this year, they can forget everything else.

I'd be here for that, I've been saying they should scrap noms (one of the most counterproductive parts of the format) and replace it with a rolling all-up VTS for years
