I don't even think calling someone a bitch is that bad  I mean the N word is unacceptable but all public figures are targets of abuse, I feel like she pulls the victim card so much. Nobody else is complaining.

You are coming across as really ignorant, educate yourself.

A specialist police team set up to investigate crimes against MPs has dealt with 102 complaints in its first year of operation.

The Metropolitan police’s parliamentary liaison and investigations team, set up in August 2016 after the murder of the Labour MP Jo Cox, has dealt with 71 complaints of “malicious communication”, which includes abusive messages or letters, 15 thefts and seven allegations of criminal damage.

There were five reports of harassment and four of racially aggravated harassment between August 2016 and 20 July 2017.

The figures were met with concern from MPs, many of whom have spoken out about abuse in recent months.

It's a slang misspelling.

^^ Fair enough if it's threatening violence, why isn't she talking about that? To highlight the comment '***** bitch' is what I don't understand.

Re-read the part about racially-aggravated harassment

MB. 14-09-2017 12:18 PM

(also "bitch" is one of the most casually misogynistic terms out there and it doesn't surprise me at all that you don't see a problem with using it)

I don't like Abbot on a personal level. The company I used to work for had a lot of dealings with her and she's really not a nice force to reckon with. She had, at least back then, a reputation for being tough and ruthless, so when the media and popular opinion broke her, there was nobody more surprised than me. If someone can break this tough cookie, they can break anyone.

My personal dislike for her is by the by. Diana Abbot has got some pretty hefty achievements behind her. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Abbott

I use it, woman I know use it, everyone uses it. So frankly I don't feel guilty. Have you ever used it in your life? Most definitely.

Because she said it and she's black, I guess.

Tom4784 14-09-2017 02:32 PM

The fact that people are more outraged by her saying it then the fact that it's something that's thrown in her face every day is both depressing and unsurprising.

a little bit bemused by this forum censoring the acronym s t f u but not this racial slur :joker:

we only have anecdotal evidence that she was called it even once and lets face it she is hardly a very truthful person now is she?

perhaps she can publish the evidence to back up her claim then and this will allow the police to prosecute the person who posted it?

It's only a word. It can do absolutely no harm whatsoever. It only offends people who want to be offended.

Grownups should be able to listen to any word that's ever been invented.

They don't make grownups like they used to.

However, this word is illegal, if I said it, I'd be arrested. So I expect she'll be arrested too, right?

Crimson Dynamo 14-09-2017 04:09 PM

a girl was ejected from BB for saying it

Just because nobody else is complaining, doesn't mean she can't. Likewise, just because she is complaining, doesn't mean she's pulling the victim card. Let her defend herself rather than jumping on this "sit down and shut up" attitude. And I despise the word "bitch". It's demeaning.

And like Dezzy said, you can't show disgust at her use of the term and then let slide those who have used the term against her.

She's a black woman describing the racist abuse she's been subjected to, she has every right to say it

She's not calling anyone else it though to be derogatory she's describing what she has to deal with on (probably) a daily basis.

We all have to deal with things on a daily basis, it's called life. Only some want us all to feel sorry for them and give them sympathy, and some just get on with it.
