The main drinks that suffer from this will be those that are overwhelmingly targeted at and drunk by alcoholics and underage or young drinkers so I don't see this as a bad thing really. Those prices are not exactly extortionate so it's not like moderate drinkers are being priced out by this.

Indeed.

user104658 15-11-2017 03:22 PM

I say put it up further but as a tax that goes straight into the NHS .

Also a "minimum" price of £14 for a 70cl bottle of whiskey?? :joker: If you're willing to drink £14 whiskey you might as well just spend £1.15 on a full litre. Of petrol. And just drink that.

Maybe that's exactly who are being looked it in relation to this, nobody is being penalised, the cost of alcohol is disproportionate to other consumables this will just bring it in line so where's the issue?

'the Alcohol (Minimum Pricing) (Scotland) Act 2012 was first passed by Scottish Government to address a health crisis responsible for 1,265 deaths in 2016, an increase of 10 per cent on the year before.

The Scottish Government says this is linked to alcohol being 60 per cent more affordable than in the 1980s, with wide ranging costs to public health.'

There is no E whisky

There is in Irish whiskey

I can get a Litre of Grants for £16 and that is great value and a top blend. Let them put up superlager but leave Whisky alone.

Not LT drinking £11 Tesco Value :worry:. They just stick a different label on it and put it in the DIY aisle as paint stripper.
