But yeah his words can't affect you physically so don't let it affect you mentally either. Probably a miserable asshole trying to bring you down too.

sorry and you are?

It’s alarming that you see what he said as a massive issue but you’re willingly writing off homophobia

Not really, he's just pointing out that he wouldn't know his sexuality, plus he could have been gay himself

People are very quick to bring up sexuality, race, colour, religion etc every time they get into an argument or anything of the like and sure sometimes it may be the reason but in many cases it's not

Cal. 18-11-2017 01:56 PM

It just seems a tad curious that this group of lads were watching him for no reason (when he was with a load of his girlies too) and chose to single him out. Anyway, horrid to hear this!

JerseyWins 18-11-2017 01:58 PM

Realistically they could just be jealous he was with a bunch of girls and they had a meat fest going on. :joker:

This is also plausible.

I've had some of my friend's boyfriends get jealous when I've been at a 'girls night' with them and they aren't there. It's kind of ridiculous but whatever. Up to them I guess.

Nobody has “gotten into an argument” though, the OP received random and unwarranted abuse and I think it’s pretty easy to see why he’d believe it to be homophobic? How do you know that “in many cases” sexuality/race/colour aren’t factors in abuse? Take the upsurge in abuse directed at women wearing headscarves after recent attacks, is that not directed at religion?

No, of course not every argument boils down to the above, but it’s pretty obvious when someone is being racist or xenophobic or homophobic and when someone like the OP feels attacked, “get over yourself” isn’t really the answer

:joker: Yeah that is ridiculous.

Also I think this is very likely to be homophobia in this case but at the same time you can't guarantee it as there are other possibilities as well.

Jason. 18-11-2017 02:06 PM

Don't let some random pricks that you don't know and will probably never see again bring you down.

Like somebody else said, words mean nothing. Especially from pond life.

Cal. 18-11-2017 02:08 PM

I've also had a friend's boyfriend defend himself keeping it a secret he was with two random girls days after cheating on my friend by saying my friend had the nerve to come to my party!

What a horrible thing to say. Where did he suggest he was the only one that's eve been discriminated against?

Kazanne 18-11-2017 02:26 PM

It's a horrible thing to say to anyone, some people are just immature and nasty, much like when people wish people dead on here just because they don't like them,it's a vile thing to wish on someone, about time it was stopped and Tom just ignore the ignorant arses, they can't hurt you, unless you let them, it says more about them, than you.

Well I wouldn't say words mean nothing as such as it would still upset you , but I agree it's best to ignore brainless idiots who shout stuff. If anything retaliation just leads to worse things  . So atleast it was just verbal and not physical  .

And how do we know it was a prejudice thing?? , A woman minding her own business could of been targeted too or anyone who just so happens to be there  .

I really don't know how to feel. Like my friends tried to convince me to not let it bother me, but that's about one of the worst things you can say to a person. I mean it was probably homophobically motivated and one of my friends tried to say it wasn't which I found a bit cheeky!

Honestl sick of the straighties underestimating the gay struggle!

When I was 6 months pregnant a passenger wished my baby dead when I took his hand baggage from him at the gate as it was too large to take onboard. When we finished boarding the flight..I burst into tears.
They were spiteful words meant to hurt...so I know just how you feel. They are JUST WORDS remember..however horrible and vile...
What goes around comes around...those words come from a very sad person.

Don't dwell on it...you are a better person. :wavey:

Omg what an evil thing to say, I cried when I lost a game of cards one time when I was pregnant so I can imagine that would definitely make a pregnant woman cry.

I know, I was just saying that in general because so many people use this excuse. I could flip it back and say how do you know they are factors? I mean sometimes somebody is just a straight up fool and the argument is related to something completely different.

If there had been some proof that Tom was gay I wouldn't even bother posting this, but there is no evidence so for him to just assume he is gay doesn't make logical sense. Plus as JerseyWins pointed out, there are alternatives like maybe jealousy.
