I have a lot more respect for Kamal now. I love how articulate he is and I think he's highly intelligent. Also his brilliant lines to Max and Saskia that night when Max threw the water over him!!

I have a lot less respect for Derek. He's mean, and a bully. He thinks because he says everything in a posh voice with an air of intelligence that he's some great observer and judge of of the others. He's not. He picks his favourites and then bitches about everyone else. Although I don't think he's a bad guy I think he's just a lot less superior than he thinks he is. A lot of the other housemates are more honest about their flaws... like someone said above they wear them on their sleeves.

I also have a lot more respect for Science and it kind of breaks my heart that he doesn't really fit in with any of the cliques that form. He's kind of an outsider. But having said that, the guy does himself no favours. If he'd just shut up and listen and not shout over everyone the second they start talking to him, people might want him around more and invite them into their circles. He's just super-defensive. I hope he's got over that now.

Orlaith is horrible - really really horrible and should never have went into the house. It should have been Kinga all along. I will admit I get a little bit of sick pleasure seeing her being tormented by Science because she only went in for exposure so she could get her magazine shoots... she moaned from the second she went in, spent all her time complaining that she wanted to go, at the expense of people like Kinga (and thousands of others) who would have loved to go into that house half way through. She had an ugly ugly personality in my opinion so yeah, she deserves the "torture" she had to endure.

One opinion that hasn't changed is that I feel Makosi is unfairly berated. She was an amazing housemate up until that "mistake". She took it too far with the lie about Anthony but I don't think she deserved the hate she got.

Craig is very very funny when he's not having a meltdown. Should have been given some psychological help or someone to speak to.

You're right about Derek being a nasty piece of work, but that's what made him a good character for the show. Along with Nasty Nick, he's one of the all time great BB villains.

Makosi's biggest mistake was aggressively having a pop at Eugene, she may have won if she hadn't have done that.

I don't think that was really a stand-out moment. When people remember Makosi's time in the house and their reasons for loving or hating her, they don't think of that one time she got a bit annoyed with Eugene.

Also, Eugene was a wimp during that incident. Being a nice guy is one thing, but he should have effing stood up for himself. Makosi was in one of her many bad moods that day and saw Eugene as a soft target. But he let himself be seen as one and didn't put her right.

Just completed my second rewatch of the series. I watched it when it was on back in '05, and watched it again in '12.

It was the first series of BB I ever watched. And to me, it has always remained my favourite. The collection of housemates was so incredibly diverse, and all were extremely complicated characters forming ever complicating relationships. Though the vast majority were egotistical, terrible people that must have been a nightmare to live with, they made for fantastic television.

Makosi has remained my favourite housemate. Not because I liked her, but because she was the most entertaining and the most psychologically fascinating housemate that I've ever seen. Her immediate jump into a secret mission distorted the housemates' view of her. When that mission ended, she continued to play her own little game. And that weave though.

Season 6, and celebrity season 5 are the highlights of Big Brother.

:umm2:

Celebrity season 5 was one of the worst pieces of television that ever aired.

I'm assuming that was a typo and he obviously meant Celebrity Season 3?

First off, welcome to the forum inaneswine! :)

Loved reading this, and I think CBB5 is one of the highlights of BBUK, because after that series, the whole BBUK brand changed...

Marsh. 27-02-2018 05:02 AM

That makes it significant, not a highlight.

Cal. 27-02-2018 06:02 AM

CBB5 was really boring.

Eddie. 27-02-2018 06:05 AM

Goddess Shilpa winning was the only good thing to come out from CBB5...

Its the only series of Big Brother I was never bored by, so for that it is my favourite.

I was a little kid when I first saw BB6 and Roberto was my favourite because of his accent.

When I watched it properly a few years ago though I really enjoyed the conflict, the fun, and some truly iconic Housemates that got everyone talking whether you loved them or hated them.

Imo you'll not get many people like Makosi, Craig, Science, Maxwell, Saskia, Derek, Roberto, Kemal, and Lesley all in one series causing such huge discussion at different points of the series that they was in.

The only downfalls imo was the Irish vote keeping Orlaith in over more popular Housemates with the rest of Britain, the final two being really dull and offering no discussion to the series whatsoever, and Kinga making the final night when she'd hardly been in the series. Other than those things though it was a very fun year and had some of my favourite Housemates ever, especially on a personal level I found Science to be very amusing to watch.

He would've went over Kemal when they would inevitably be the next head-to-head, and that would've fit so much better given their love/hate dynamic. Then you'd probably get a Kemal & Derek head-to-head with Kemal probably still going due to his Makosi fixation. And then Derek would've lasted all the way to the final week. The only thing is it means Kinga doesn't re-enter because Orlaith would simply be evicted, but it's a small price to pay to extend the time of three superior housemates.

Kemal wouldn't have beat Science.

The high point of Big Brother for me.

I was only about 15 at the time but I watched it religiously, and its the only series I've wanted to go back and re-watch (probably watched it through 6 or 7 times over the years). Its aged really well.

So many huge characters in that series as well. Anthony was my favourite from the start.

Eddie. 07-05-2018 10:30 PM

^^Yeah 6 has really aged well...

Though I don’t agree with your favourite...
