you lucky thing MIZZY25 - its nice to be appreciated. you must be working hard.
|
I prefer gift cards if im getting a gift card or money but yeah I think its perfectly ok to give money as a present. At least you can get what you want with money
|
If that's what they want otherwise it's a tad unthoughful
|
I wouldn't like it if my parents just handed me cash on christmases and my birthday. Wheres the excitement in that? What's there to look forward to? I don't even really ever ask for anything for christmas or my birthday, my mum always told me it was rude so I genuinely never know whats coming and I love it.

Absolutely, some people are nightmares to buy for and won't tell you what they want definitely for some reason.
Money allows them to get said gift(s). |

...yes? I ain’t gonna be like ‘UGH MONEY AGAIN YOU UNCREATIVE SLOB’

For me, i´d rather know what´s coming than not knowing these days. It was different when you were children. And nowadays i much prefer to have soft packets (clothes, candy etc.) than hard (appliances, toys etc.). If i want something for example a new phone, i´d rather buy it myself rather than have someone buy it to me.
And i don´t mind and prefer money/gift card as a gift as it will be put into good use anyway (well, from my point of view anyway). Bus card reload etc. And it´ll give me options, which i wouldn´t have if i had the actual gift, which could lead to a disappointment. |
It's not as special as a personal gift - but eventually they would buy something that will bring them happiness, and it's kind of the point of gifts, so why not!
|
Bit lazy but if they want it then sure.
|
Its an age thing, you get to a point where you have everything you need, and if you don't have, you buy it. So in those circumstances what use is a gift.
|
I don't see a problem with it tbh.
All my oldest nieces and nephews get money, a selection box and an alcohol gift set from us that way they still have a little something to unwrap Christmas morning but also have money to buy what they want to. |
Well it’s better than vouchers(basically telling them where they have to spend the money).I never understood those.

I suppose it depends who you're giving it to. I wouldn't give my parents or grandmother money, but I'm giving my niece some foreign currency because she's going on a skiing trip in January. And frankly, money is always a good fall-back for teenagers, I never know what to get them and when I was their age money was the greatest gift of all.

they prefer money anyway - and what they get is there choice. much better. |
It’s totally fine to give money out as a present, some people don’t really give you much information about what they want or they already got it. You could easily give it before christmas so they can buy something and get someone else to wrap it up.
|
Anyone I get money for I always get a little something to go with it. Money is good and I don't mind giving it to the younger members of the family at all, but it's always nice for them to have something to open, too.
|
Yes I think so, the person getting the money can then buy what they want, I mean this year both my parents gave me money and I went and bought what I needed or wanted and gave them the stuff I bought. It better because they dont have to be worried what they get will be something I dont want. I know what I am getting, but I dont care, I am getting stuff I need/Want. I do the same to family members/friends, I either give them money to buy what they want or ask them what the want and I buy it. I dont really want to buy something that they dont want.
|
I would NEVER give money at Christmas, its a "Here I couldn't be bothered" gift and an insult to who you give it to IMO

Otherwise you end up having to spend the New Year taking things back and giving them the cash anyway... |
