But Challenger did launch three times in 84, maybe the memories were of one of these launches?

If you remember something incorrectly, it's a false memory.

Aren't Tom Toms ketchup flavoured crisps in the shape of balls?

Edit - Or rather, Tangy Toms

I mean, its more of a phenomenom, that several thousand people share the same false memory of something. Like people dont incorrectly remember the monopoly guy wearing a yellow suit, but several thousand remember him wearing a monocle.. why?

I think it means an actual vivid memory you have of something, that even after discovering it's false you can't believe it as you remember differently.

Like us going to a party 2 years ago and I vividly remember you wearing a blue dress. I saw it and I remember it. Then you show me a photo and you were actually wearing a white dress. False memory. :smug:

I was actually going to suggest people are thinking of the Pringles logo, but he doesn't have a monocle either. :worry:

I used to swear blind Carol Vorderman used to turn round the letters on Wheel of Fortune because I'd absolutely seen her doing so when I was much younger, eventually I realised I must have seen her on Countdown putting up the letters and thought it was Wheel of Fortune, but my recollections always had her in front of the Wheel of Fortune board

I seem to remember a Canderel sweetener ad singing -

‘Canderel in the morning,Canderel in the evening’ but can’t find it anywhere.Like it never existed.

Sounds like a dream you had one time that you told your sister about :fan:

No they were real! We had them at my gran's house loads of times over the space of a couple of years, AND I remember the advert (it was a racially questionable thing with a tribe sitting round a fire chanting "Tom-Toms ... Tom-Toms... Tom-Toms... Tom-toms Tom-toms TOM-TOMS-TOM-TOMS" faster and faster.)

Plus no one could have dreamt the horrible burns caused by steaming hot ketchup bursting out of a small ball of processed chicken.

Well yes but it's not a false memory it's just a memory of seeing the fan art wouldn't it.

I thought false memories were more personal, like people who remember being abused but weren't :/

No I doubt many people are vividly remembering fan art from their childhood and throughout their life.

False memories and the mandela effect are a bit different though, the OP brought up both, I think most of the thread has been people talking about different things to each other haha.
