Let's face it people aren't stupid, if they see someone else doing less and being paid the same money or more! they will slow down

No surprise really as it is only to be expected that those wanting to get work, and trying to make a good impression, will make an extra effort. Self interest is the key rather than being harder workers per se. Did anyone actually believe it was anything else!

Grr! How dare they work hard just for their own interest when the entirety of the British workforce are completely SELFLESS when it comes to work! Most months I turn to my employer and say 'Nope! I don't need to be paid this month, job satisfaction is enough to keep me going!'

I mean of course they're going to try harder to impress... They're already at a disadvantage when it comes to employment. Through no fault of their own, might I add.

There you go - people coming in who want to stay have more to prove so they would work harder. It’s commonsense. When did I say self-interest was necessarily a negative thing. And where did I mention job satisfaction. I was just pointing out that it was to be expected in response to ridiculous claims that other nationalities work harder than the British per se. That is an easy claim to make - but not so easy to prove.

Do you actually believe Europeans work for nothing. If they work for low pay it’s because they choose to because they earn more here than at home. No it isn’t right for employers’ to take advantage of that - but it was still a decision people made to further their future opportunities. Eventually they expect it to pay off and gat paid the same as others once they have proved themselves. We would likely do the same if it was the other way round.

So you could argue... it's just that they've become "more British" :hehe:.

Seems plausible. I think what Brits constitue as ‘unfit to work’ doesnt match up with most of the world. When these migrants start to work out that Jan from accounting took 3days off for having a bit of a cold, they’ll grow accustom to doing the same.

My boss hasn't even noticed my absence, because he's never there either... he left in the middle of the day to play Call of Duty and eat Doritos and hasn't come back."
